I know what most supporters of the upcoming war are going to say, that 'the world changed after 9-11'...I don't believe that. I don't believe the world changed, just the American's perception. It's always been this violent. It's just that it finally made it's way here. Many people (especially Americans) get riled up about that. Just remember, the U.S. hasn't had a war on their soil in about 140 years. I know I'm gonna get slammed for this, but I tend to sympathize with many Europeans, who've known only war.
Oh, and the UN gave Iraq a 'B'...not bad, I'm a 'B' student myself...

Thanks for fueling the anti-American sentiments, Texas Apostate. You're exactly the type of person people outside of the US have come to fear. And as far as I know, our government has done nothing to prove Iraq's guilt. Just the other day I was watching Donald Rumsfeld telling a reporter that he had no proof of Iraq's WMD. He 'knows' they have it. Yeah, and I 'know' the Red Sox are going to win a World Series in my lifetime.
Countries being self-sufficient? What, is it so wrong for a country to want to defend themselves? and to want to supply themselves with power? North Korea is facing a severe power shortage. You tell me to do some research. You're a funny guy. You actually think the US is worthy to be one of the only countries to posess nuclear weapons? Isn't the US the only country to have used them during a war? And if I'm not mistaken, Bush has not ruled out the use of them on Iraq.
I can tell you're one the dwindling number of Bush supporters.
I watched Micheal Moore the last night and he said something very interesting. Bush, in all his infinite wisdom, rather than being able to find the one man mostly responsible for the terrorist attacks, has instead decided to war on a nation of 20 million people. I can see the logic in that. (yeah right!) Not only that, but 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi Arabian. NOT IRAQI. And yet our government is content with Saudi Arabia's 'cooperation'. Why are we attempting to punish someone else (no matter how despicable) for a crime that someone else committed? It defies logic.
Consider this: Saddam Hussein is a Sunni. It is the Shi'ite Muslims (whom he has quelled) who are the more radical, extremist and sometimes violent followers of Islam. You want to get rid of Saddam and open up that can of worms? You want a nation on the brink to go over the edge? Be careful what you wish for, TA.
And as far as Iran? which is made up mostly of Shi'ites? I think (hope) you can gather where this point is taking you.
Keep supporting your Holy Roman Empire, TA, because that is the way we are headed.

To an extent I agree with Yeru. The death penalty should be considered in cases in where guilt is obvious. But as he said, the application of it, especially in Illinois merits not just a review, but an overhaul.
I think what governa was trying to do with the blanket commutation, was to force the legislature to do something about it. Anything less, and they would have just sat on their thumbs. He could be criticized for that, but I think he was just looking at the big picture. Granted, some guilty parties are getting off the hook. But maybe that was the price to pay for fixing the system. It's sad that innocent people who have nothing to do with the problem have to die.

When was that written? Maybe at one point 88 percent wanted the war, but I'd hesitate to say that is true now. LB, you're right, typical USA bashing. Everyone in the US knows Bush is an idiot, we don't need anyone else telling us so.
Sad thing is, the only thing Americans care about are the outward appearances. Most Americans simply care about leadership ability and bringing respect to the White House. They don't care which initiatives our President brings to the table. He can reduce standards for pollution, war on nations who simply are trying to make themselves self-sufficient, and blind people with reterich, but God forbid he become weak and have an affair.
As far as the polls he cited, I think this one is a more accurate depiction.

by link inis it just me or does anyone else get really screwed up when they read something here on the board which they know is not factual and is utterly and completely wrong?
im not giving examples because youve all seen it.. what really gets to me is that when someone posts stuff that is completely factually inaccurate it makes all the posters here look like dummies.
i get to thinking about what all the jw lurkers must feel about "the stupid apostates" when they read some of this stuff.. i just wish that some people would do a bit of research before posting statements which they claim to be accurate.
