Noah's Flood & Other Bible Stories

did anyone catch the east coast tlc (the learning channel) programs last night?

the first one was about noah's flood.

the program after that was about sodom & gammorah, the ancient apocalypse.. the programs were trying to establish that events have happened, and have been recorded, but the facts have been distorted within the structures of various existing societies inside the bounds of "religious dogma".

Hi Sentinal.

Yes I have heard that story before,and its quite feasable,because before the ice age,the Med was in fact mostly dry land,so Noahs story could be the memory of the sea level rise in that part of the world.

What got me interested in this,is that I think the old testement of the bible goes back a lot further than its given credit for,story telling passed down the generations,untill it was written down,by then things had got mixed up.

The Ancient Egyptians,in their beliefs,talk of 'the old ones' or 'the ones that came before',and regognised that mankind was around long before they were,also most ancient religions all seem to have references to a great cataclysum,globally,in antiquity.

Interesting stuff.

i love this forum.

at the moment, there are lots of people saying bad things about it.

This site is the best I have ever found,being a non JW there are things I dont understand,but I have learnt a lot,thankyou all for educating me,I think one of the most important things I have discovered,is that we may have slightly different perspectives being a woldwide community,but at the end of the day,we are all the same.

I hope this is read as its meant to be,,,,,highly complimentary to all of you.

my girlfriend and i have birthdates exactly 10 days apart (mine comes earlier).

our mothers have birthdates exactly 10 days apart (her mother's comes earlier).

My fathers birthday is also the same day as mine(April 10th).He has always said that he never made his mind up weather it was the best or worst suprise lol.

Also here is another light hearted coincidence,true though,

April 10th is the day the Titanic set sail,my ex's birthday is April 12th,the day it sank!.

if you all can cast your minds back to that fatefull day in 1912,ladies don your bustles,gentlemen put on your top hats and the scene(imaginary as we're not that old)in the cabaret is set.. a magician is perfoming,on his shoulder he has his pet parrot(called polly in case anyone askes),.

the magician pulls a rabbit out of his hat,and polly being in a bad mood squawks,'it was up his sleeve',trick ruined.. not to be nonplussed the magician tries another one,2 turtle doves this time,and polly squawks,'they were up his trouser leg',trick ruined.. the magician by this time is thinking,'what do i do next',when that fatefull moment happened.. after it was all over,there is a table floating,on it is sat the magician and on the table leg is sat polly,.

polly looked at the magician and said,'ok i give up,what have you done with it'!.
