One member of the ex-JW Facebook groups comment got taken down by reason that is was against their guidelines, supposedly attacking a religion. It was a bit strong, mind you - borderline I would say.

I don't think the community realises it will also result in a massive influx of JWs in the area, and therefore knocking on people's doors a lot more. Many of of the comments on the article seem to be along the lines of: "it's fine as long as they leave us alone and don't bother anybody". I think that person is in for a shock.

Satan And The Demons
by sojourner7 ingreetings.. i was wondering if someone could tell me according to wt theology, what happens to satan and the demons?
are they also annihilated or do they experience eternal punishment?
thanks!.

Their explanation of Revelation 20:10 is weak-ass - they pretty much dodge the "eternal torment" aspect

British museum bible tours
by inbetween invisiting london years ago i had the chance to participate on a bible tour arranged from bethel.
what i remember, it was one out of 12 topics, and a brother or sister served as a guide, showing particular objects related to bible accounts.. at that time, i was quite enthusiastic about it, thinking i learned something valuable.. .
now, being awake to ttatt, i wonder what real scientific value those tours served.. or rather it raises the suspicion, that those tours are for visiting witnesses in order to distract them from many other finds in the museum, that would disprove either the bible or their own theology.. anybody ever made such a tour ?.

I seem to reacall a thread on here where one of those tours was a wake-up to TTAT for one poster - something about 607 not being mentioned in the British Museum!

What is with the WT obsession with King David??
by BU2B init seems like at least once a month he is brought up as a good example in the study wt.
it seems like he is given more praise than jesus.
have you noticed this?

I don't want to worship a God that is fine with wicked King David, but will kill someone for picking up wood on the wrong day - Numbers 15:32-35.

Homosexuality, the GB and the Bible
by Oubliette inthe recent topics addressing the shamefully bigoted talk by jw gb member, anthony morris, on the subject of homosexuality got me thinking.
what the heck is up with the gb's obsession with this subject?.
as far as i can determine, jesus never said a single thing in reference to homosexuality.

Yes - it's subjects like hermaphrodities where their legalism falls apart completely. This also would extend to their poor handing and ignorance in other areas such as mental health in general, and specifically also what gender someone identifies with.
Again they choose ignore the science and make up their minds about something the bible doesn't even discuss. They take a totally antiquated view that gender is black and white - penis or vagina. They don't consider that the brain plays just as big a role in gender too.

Instead, some researchers have a hypothesis that explains the biological basis of homosexuality via epigenetic mechanisms (epi-marks), where the fetus is sensitive to hormonal influences in the womb.
This is one of the areas where the JWs say one thing in their literature, and say another thing amongst themselves in private.
In the literature, you will read things like "we don't know whether homosexuality is something from birth or if there are other factors", whereas JWs will say among themselves that it's definitely a learned behaviour, a lifestyle choice - a product of imperfection that will be wiped out in the "new system".
What most fundamental religionists don't seem to recognise is that it's not so much about sex as it is about love, hopes and dreams and who you are.
That's very well put, and gets to the point of what is really wrong with AMIII's rant as MMM explained. If he stuck to those few scriptures, he might at least have the appearance of having a leg to stand on (which he probably doesn't) but what he does instead is to go way beyond that, making up a totally random rule that it's wrong to buy tight pants because they might be made by homosexuals, and by extension and inferrence of those listening, having any interaction with homosexuals is scripturally wrong.
So when AMIII is going on his rant, he's not just ranting against the act of homosexual sex, which many religious fundementalists also take issue with, but he's going way beyond that, advocating ostracism and ultimately veiled hatred not just towards an act but hatred towards a people and against their hopes and dreams.
That's why:
To me, it's the worst kind of homophobia.

To me it seems like the JWs use David to make their favourite point of "it's what's in your heart that matters" and then twist that into obedience. As a cult, they don't just want your outward obedience, but they want (brainwashed) "heartfelt obedience" - THEY WANT YOUR BRAAAINS!
It doesn't matter how much adultery or how many people you murder, it's "obedience to Jehovah" (i.e. obey the GB) that counts.

What are the feelings/thoughts within 24-48 hours of exposure to an undeniably true (for you) TATT?
by NeverKnew inmany of us know where we were during 9/11 or when john kennedy and martin luther king were killed.. it seems that when faced with ttatt, real truth is dismissed as "ol' light" or "an imperfect group of men" but from what i gather, many of you, at some point, were hit with a component of ttatt that shattered all of those cliches that allowed you to brush off the obvious reality that something was very wrong.
some of you may remember the hours following your earliest exposures to an undeniably true tatt.
did you zone completely out?
