this spring, two of them took a liking for each other and teamed up.
for a couple of weeks, extensive construction work was jointly done and resulted in a nice little nest, undoubtedly a cosy home for the small family which expected to multiply.

you know that "widow's might" stuff they're always talking about?
well i'm pretty dang sure that the lady was giving from the heart not because she filled out some dumba$$ piece of paper pledging two small coins several months previous!.

New Hall Funding Arrangement
by thedog1 inwell our local needs part on this went very uneventfully.
the brother read it out in such a way that the main thrust was the new arrangement with only two donation boxes in the hall.
then, almost as an afterthought to the proposed resolution to send exactly what we used to send as the loan repayment, he casually mentioned that we would no longer be paying a loan.

So I'm just back from the meeting where the letter got read.
After reading the full letter and the post-script here online, I was ready for quite a shock in the congregation. However, you always forget that people hearing it only and for the first time don't have time to deciper what is being said, especially if the reader is bad and the important bits get buried in all the waffle.
I would say the reaction of the audience at the time seemed to be boredom and/or confusion. One long-serving sister almost had her head in her hands - either in confusion or disappointment - it was hard to tell.
The elder doing the local needs part was the worst reader here - at the best of times he is quite a jittery and nervous guy, but I swear he was almost visibly sweating reading this letter - maybe because he knows what it really means for the congregation.
There was no mention of taking individual anonymous surveys here - maybe they will go for the "calculate a number" approach. I don't think anyone got the full meaning of the letter, and of course, most of the important stuff is buried in the post-script anyway.
The elder did a brief intro before he read the letter - how blessed we are etc. and even said how lucky we are that we are not like other religions: "we don't pass a plate and we don't do tithing". I found this quite sickening, because at that point he was just outright lying to a room full of people. He even referred back to Exodus 25:2 from the bible highlights which was also mentioned then as well, but with a positive spin about "how nice it is that we are like that" etc.

After the reading of the first letter tonight during the local needs, the brother mentioned that they had also recieved another letter yesterday asking for photos of and details about the current condition of each Kingdom Hall. I don't think that is the "additional" letter being referred to in this thread - does anyone have the one I'm talking about?
There are apparently also letters about each kingdom hall getting internet access and projectors as well - I don't mean assembly halls getting that, I mean individual kindgom halls. I'm aware of previous letters about assembly halls getting such facilities, but it seems they want to extend that now to individual congregations?

have i missed the wt public statement condemning this?

The media in general has been way too slow on this though - it was way down the running on TV news for the first week or two at least. The governments have also left it way too late.
When you contrast that response to the immediate, international effort that went out when the Malaysian Airliner went down, it's really quite shocking.
