i havent been going door to door saturday mornings for since i can't remember when.
i have been putting in regular reports to the congregation but the last time i actually went on a door was probably six months ago or so and it has been at least 2 years since i did a saturday morning.
9:30 we showed up to the group arrangement, we waited outside because we were not sure that it was the right place.
It's even more rediculous when a few of those are going off to do cart witnessing. In the congregation here, they're running the cart in a shift system, so half-way through the morning, another couple that has been out D2D has to come drive to the town center (maybe a 30 min drive) to take over, so the couple who were on first can then drive out to the territory (another 30 mins) and start D2D! It's like the most inefficient system they could have thought of - so much time wasted! (I know it's all a waste really but...)

You think they would prefer to donate it to one of the smaller Bethels with no press or an even older one - that's what happened to most of the rest of those that were in the USA and the UK.
They do say it's currently in use though, so it doesn't nescessarily indicate winding down production nescessarily in itself. They might just want to replace it with a newer model when they move to Warwick, which actually might indicate a desire to increase production or reduce running costs. It's probably more cost-effective to just order a new press rather than dismantling an old one and moving it?
is dave algar in bethel?.
has michael purbrick become a pioneer again?.
just what are these guys doing now?.
Good question.
The assumption was that D.O.'s would probably be re-assigned as circuit overseers, or at the very least special pioneers. My guess would be that they are also running schools for new circuit overseers and the couples/singles schools as well.
I haven't actually heard anything about them though, come to think of it. It's only 3 weeks ago the change impacted though.
i study religions.
i never call new world religons cults.
until they become like heavsn gate etc.. the jw religions is setting itself u for this.
If you asked people in the western world to name three cults in operation today, they would probably name Jehovah's Witnesses as one of them, maybe alongside the K.K.K. and the Freemasons. That's what firstly comes to my mind when I think of cults.
hi,.
i just stumbled upon this photo on facebook (pic by david j. m. coleman), and as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.... .
.
Isn't it about time someone told the Charities Commission about these tossers??
Actually, for anyone who is thinking of or who is currently writing to the Charities Commission, including a copy of this photo might not be such a bad idea - it does speak a thousand words, as they say.
i have posted some of this info in a different post but due to the additional information i heard i have decided to put all this under new topic.. rbc update (apparently this information is global):.
rbc will be dissolved on 5 october 2014. majority of departments will be shut down and handed over to bethel (construction, planning, training, it and legal definitely will be gone).
age criteria for the new department is under 50 years old.
^ (R.B.C. was the Regional Building Committee, responsible for building kingdom halls and assembly halls)
Why the hell would anyone in their right mind choose to go to Bethel now?
I mean, at least before you might have the chance of living out your retirement in relative comfort in a quiet office job with your bed and board paid for, but now you might be kicked out at 50, with possibly no "real world" work experience, meaning little chance of salaried employment much above minimum wage, and no state pension and no retirement fund.
It's basically signing yourself up to a lonely, poor, early death, surviving on the dole.
Also:
- Based on above, the branch is appointing external companies to do the bulk or major building work
- Several brothers have been approached to send their bids for the construction work
From my own experience, if they're looking for volunteers relatively locally who the don't have to find accommodation for, then there is no way they will find enough skilled brothers under 50 for construction (especially when they get to the specialised stuff like plumbing and electrics - almost all the current RBC specialists in those areas are over 50+). That probably means that the new bethel facilities will almost certainly be built by "worldly" companies! So much for "Jehovah's blessing" eh?
- Some of the flats will get built and then will be sold for the public
They're not even being subtle about it anymore, are they? They are a full-blown declared property investment company.
if one had but three weeks to see the best of these, what are some of the musts in your opinion?.
besides london.. .
.
That's a good list freddo - I'd definitely recommend York as many have said - it's a very compact slice of English history and architecture all in one city, and not too far from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales to the west, or the nice coastline of Whitby and Scarborough to the east.
Also enjoyed Dublin - not too over-powering of a city like London, but very friendly people and lots to see, especially if you can get out to the beautiful countryside.
The north west of Scotland is also pretty, but then I would be a bit biased to that, seeing as it's where I currently live

Can't quite remember his name, but I definitely recognize the brother on the left from parts on assemblies and conventions here. I'm sure he's given a few talks or been chairman. Greenock congregation I guess, going by the Facebook photographer...
as we are into the third week of the new circuit visit arrangement, i was wondering if any had experienced it yet and whether there are any changes.
what is done with the spare evening?
anyone tried to get an appointment through with the c/o doing the appointing?
I'm sure this sounds like last year's C.O. talks still on the rounds - this can't be the new stuff surely?
