When I was still a JW, we were trained on how to look for people who are going through difficult times. Easy targets are those who are going through difficult times, that was how they got my mother. All it took was the death of my sister, she was 5 years old at the time, for them to sweet talk themselves into her life. Before that my mother would have nothing to do with the JWs, for her it was the opposite, she would do anything she could to stop others from getting interested in them.

Haven't worn a dress, and hubby hasn't worn a suit in over 18 years. All that stuff went to Goodwill shortly after we left.

How Much of the WT Teaching Did You Believe?
by Ding insome people on this forum have said that they never really believed any aspect of wt teaching, that they couldn't wait to get free of it all.. others seems to have been really gung ho, believing it all until something happened that got you questioning "the truth.".
i would say my own high water mark was about 50%, which put me squarely on the fence, trying to decide if i should be in or out.. how about you?.

I was pretty gullible when I was younger, and I was raised up in it. At the time I thought I had thoroughly researched everything to believe in it at about 95%. My research at the time consisted of only Watchtower literature, their bible, and no internet to fact check. But to give credit I didn't even know what the internet was; this was before the internet became what it is now. I did though have a very hard time believing that only the JWs were going to survive Armageddon. I saw people who I witnessed who were very good people, and done wonderful things for their families and fellow human beings, while on the other hand, I saw JWs who were total slimeballs. That was something that always bothered me. There were certain teaching of the Watchtower that I just could not wrap my mind around either. Come to find out later after really doing proper research on why I couldn't, and that was it was because those things were what the people in the Watchtower totally made up to try to justify their lies.

Why is Life Expectancy in the USA So Low Compared to Other Countries?
by RubaDub ini was looking at the world health org.
report and it shows the us ranks 37th in the world (tied with albania) for combined male/female life expectancy.
the top 5 were japan, switzerland, singapore, israel and spain, all around 83 years.

I have a strong feeling as to why the United States ranks where it does on life expectancy is not so much the health care but all the crap the food industry puts in our food, sugar being the main culprit. They put sugar and lots of it in EVERYTHING we eat even if it does not require it. I was watching a documentary where they were talking about this, which was what made me aware of the problem, and how bad it is.

Generally Speaking Do You Support The Police?
by minimus ini know bad cops exist in many cities.
i know some cops who aren’t “bad” but do have an attitude.
however, i prefer to have law and order as opposed to chaos.

In the past, I have lived in an area that did not have any law enforcement what so ever. Most of the time things were ok, but when things were bad there was no one to help. Ended up having to move just to get away from the situation. If someone was murdered, those victims went without any justice. The location I'm talking about is not some backwater country, but here in the United States.

He told me everyone said that he and his wife would never last and now they are together 43 years.
This sounds so very familiar because when my husband and I got married, my parents said our marriage wouldn't last five years. Then my mother repeated it again when I informed her that my husband and I were leaving the JWs. She said, Now that you no longer have Jehovah in your life your marriage will fall apart before the year is up." That was over 18 years ago, and my husband and I have been happily married for 26 years this year. The ironic part is that we actually got happier after leaving because we were free to be who we really are.

How it will end for the believers
by iankiptoo intoday, many signs have been fulfilled showing that we are in the end times and much has been said in regards to armageddon, tribulation... etc but little in regards to what happens to those who believe and what transitions them to be free and escape from all that to the final destination.
this is my focus and message is based on that.in creation, there were two trees at the centre of the garden of eden and we are familiar with what happened;man ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and then we are familiar with the ramifications afterwards.
now through jesus christ, the events that will lead to the end for those who believe are in 3 stages1.knowledge will be increased (daniel 12:4)there will be a transition, knowledge will transition from that of the tree of knowledge of good and evil to also include knowledge of the tree of life and this brings with it a transformation that will bring in the second phase2.healingthe knowledge/belief/faith will bring about spiritual transformational healing, also practical knowledge i.e.

I came across some information a while back, but I can't recall where I found it. Anyways the information was about the end of days were actually a mistranslation, it should have said the end of an era, not destruction. If I can find it again I'll post a link, or if someone else knows this they can.

What was your favorite video game?
by LoveUniHateExams ini've never been that big on video/computer games but i used to have a ps2 and my absolute fav game was star wars battlefront ii, released by pandemic in 2005.. you could choose to play as three different classes of soldier and fight for the rebels, the imperials, the republic or the battle droids.
as you played and gained points by killing the enemy, you could unlock a fourth and fifth class of soldier.
you could also play as a hero or villain - such as darth vader, luke skywalker, princess leia, etc.. there was something absolutely awesome playing as darth vader and cutting down or force-choking rebel soldiers on the tantive iv.. .

Did You Ever Get Hit On By An Elder?
by minimus inthe organization stresses to elders to be careful with members of the opposite sex.
never be alone with a sister whether it be in field service or paying a visit by means of a shepherding call.
do you know of any elders that flirted or were overly “touchy” with females?
-
Tameria2001
He was not an elder but a ministerial servant. It was when the kingdom hall (the one I was attending at the time) that we were building. While there, a very fine-looking brother was flirting with me big time. I didn't know who he was but later learned that he was married with two children. I'm not sure why he was flirting with anyone because later on I got to meet his wife, and she was just the cutest person, with the sweetest personality, that I have ever seen. Yes, I did fall in love with the whole family. I did call him out on his behavior because I don't play those kinds of games. For some reason, that really impressed him, and I ended up getting a job through the government.
I was rather ballsy and brave when I was a single sister. I didn't have a problem calling people out of their unacceptable behavior. I think that was why none of the single brothers were interested in me, and thank god they weren't. I would have turned them down anyway.

Total strangers are more loving than God
by pleaseresearch inimagine this.
someone has been involved in a car crash or shooting.
total strangers usually rush to the aid of the victims.
-
Tameria2001
They would say that the injured one called out to God and he sent those strangers to help.
The problem with that thinking is what about all those who did cry out to God but help never came in time, or ever?
