The last Memorial I ever attended was 1996, that was a whole 5 years before I officially left the Watchtower. That was 24 years ago for me this year, so no.

Will you attend the Memorial 2020 ? - Covid-19 (Coronavirus)
by bats in the belfry in... or rather listen to the advice on their jw news website:.
show love to others.
while we all know the importance of attending christian meetings and participating in the public ministry, if you are sick, it is best to stay home to avoid infecting others.

My awakening was back in 2001, and it was one of those years, If it can go wrong, it will go wrong, type of year. We had just moved into our home (rental) and everything was breaking down, all our appliances (we owned those) and both our vehicles. To top it off my eldest son at the time was only 5, was having some serve medical issues, that required him to be hospitalized.
Fortunately, our appliances were still under warranty, and the man who sold them to us came to our home to repair them. While he was there we got to talking and told him about what was going on. He (not a JW) said that his wife has a saying, she would say when you have a lot of things going wrong, someone or something in the universe is trying to tell you something.
A couple of days later I was reading through the bible when I came across the scripture at Deuteronomy 18:21 & 22 where it talks about false prophets, and something clicked in my mind like a light bulb turning on. My mother became a JW back in the early 1970s to survive Armageddon and to be reunited with my older sister (who died at the age of 5) in the fall of 1975. After that, I really dug into really researching everything, and 3 months later my husband and I sent in our DA letters. It was shortly after that 9-11 happened, I learned about the Watchtower NGO/UN connection, and a news article on TV came out about the pedo issue in the Watchtower. If I was still in by the time the pedo issues were being exposed, I would have for sure left it at that point.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Does anyone know how California has been affected currently, especially around southern California? I just learned that my son has been transferred (military) to the area. I don't know any more than that.

The Coronavirus Is Trump’s Fault!
by minimus inyes, it’s donald trump’s problem and he has no idea of how to take care of this!
and he gets his vp mike pence to oversee this situation.
donald trump doesn’t care about who could get this virus.

I disagree, I just finished watching a live news feed where Gov. Hutchinson (Arkansas) said Trump is the one who did travel restriction into the US. They were directed to quarantine locations. And what is wrong in allowing the VP to handle important jobs? That is what he is there for. If you are going to put the blame on someone then put blame on where it really belongs, and that being China.

Expect 90% of pimi's to go down with the ship here's why
by nowwhat? ini have been feeding my very pimi brother tidbits and clippings of all the csa issues coming to light the last five years and all the org's business dealings of hundreds of closed halls congs dissolving etc.
and reminding him of all the failed prophecies etc etc.
although he would listen and acknowledge.

This sounds correct. When I left mom asked me why, and after I gave her my answer she told me that even if it was not the true religion she would always stay with it. She was also left unfazed by my reason, and the biggest one was 1975, the reason why she became a JW. My desire is that she is still alive when the Watchtower goes down.

Name one POSITIVE thing you took from your experience as a Witness
by geodude ini was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .
i have no fear of public speaking.
i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.

Name one POSITIVE thing you took from your experience as a Witness - I met my husband at the building of a kingdom hall, although we came very close to not even meeting each other. I had finished my job and was leaving the state the next morning, and the country shortly after that. The only reason I hadn't left yet was that someone had misplaced some of my equipment. My future husband was talking to the brother who knew where everything was at. All I said was hi, to him, and left. He actually chased me down to get my number, and the rest is history. Little did I know at the time my future husband was also a PIMO. That was almost 27 years ago.

Do JWs believe that animals were created to live in harmony? Lion and the lamb
by Doubledecker inthanks to all who replied to my first post, i appreciate you taking the time to do so.. i left jws for my own reasons as a teenager as i just simply didn’t believe it .
i am enjoying playing catch up with all the information out there now showing multiple examples of false prophecies , covering up the truth and the jw broadcasting stuff is amazing ( as said before i’ve just ignored the organisation for 30 years ) , it’s totally brainwashing evangelical propaganda.. however i digress .... as a young kid i used to ask , “if in paradise the “ lion will lay with lamb “ and all creatures will live in harmony, why for example does a snake have venom if not to eat another creature ?”.
like i say i was 10 years old i remember so please excuse the childish question.. but do they actually believe that was gods original plan for animals ?

I never understood that either, especially when I saw their fangs or canines, don't use those for eating vegetation. Besides that when there are no predators to keep the prey in check, things go from bad to worse.

Marital sex
by Tedeily inmy wife and i have always shared naked photos respectfully over the years.
being the only thing to fill that void in our relationship due to being apart.
recently my wife has become jehovah, and we’re not sure if my wife is allowed to respectfully share herself with me while i am away.

Just keep in mind also the Watchtower will say things that will make your wife feel guilty about perfectly normal sexual relations between you and her. It won't be a thing mentioned once in a blue moon, but quite often. I would suggest doing research in this area so when the time comes, and it will, so you will know how to handle this situation.

by Tameria2001 inabout a month ago i had mentioned my niece who's jw parents kicked her out.
i let her know that she is welcome to my home if she wanted to come.
well, i found out through another relative that her jw parents (my sister) learned that i was more than happy to take in their daughter.

@laverite, I plan on it, but at the moment I have been poking a stick at the proverbial hornet's nest lately with my JW relatives.
