  Well, I had 'the talk'....

  i've been wondering how to approach my family w/ my true feelings re: the jw's.

  conveniently, my mother gave me an opening last night and i went for it.

  i spent nearly four hours 'getting through' to her and was blown away, b/c she actually agreed w/ me.

  i finally feel like there is someone out there that understands what i'm going through.

  my ex-girlfriend (and still best friend) try to understand but she just can't.

  she supports me in being strong but it's just nice to vent to people who have been through the same thing.

  i was looking in one of the more recent copies of the awake and there is a question from the readers on pinatas.

  i won't go into the whole thing, but in the response, at one point, the awake says that (paraphrase) "the bible puts birthdays in a bad light.

  however (and i love that word, 'cuz it implies, 'well, we've changed our minds again') if a practice has no current false religious attachments, then it is up to each individual to decide what they will do".....that's not verbatim, but it's close enough.

  Just becaue it becomes a personal decision, doesn't mean that people can't be DF'd for it. Its a personal decision not to smoke and people can get DF'd for doing that. If people do what the WT says 'christians should refrain' from doing, they will get in trouble with the borg. This is just legal back peddeling so the Borg doesn't get into legal trouble.

  To say that women are not objects is to deny them existance. I say objectify everyone. I am an Object of the living type. my sub-types include (but are not limited to) mammal, male, US Citizen and omnivore.

  We are all objects and counting down the day to when they are Legal Adults isn't inherantly bad. Besides the obvious "age of consent", these 2 women can now vote and sign legal contracts under their own name! Imagine the political power these two females can sway.

  Armaggedon comes - at a set day and hour or as a result of circumstances?

  i have been thinking about this question for some time.

  considering the society's past deceptions and false dates about armaggedon, i never gave the timing of this "day after tomorrow" event too much thought.. and then i got to thinking, well, maybe there isn't a set day or hour for the end of the world.

  the few examples that jehovah gave a specific time for a city to be destroyed was nineveh (40 days) and jerusalem (the 70 weeks of years).
