At the risk of saying 'Peace and security' and fuling the end of times...I feel pretty safe. I know lots of people are in wars now, but not as bad as it has been in the past. With technology today, we can see and hear it first hand, so it seems more barbaric. Do we have any roving bands coming into our cities raping and pillaging our hoarses and riding off on our beautiful women? No. Our cars might get broken into and stuff, but generally I feel pretty safe.
I read in an Awake! that the number of reports of earthquakes in the last 100 years are more than those in all of human history...DUH
We can detect them better. The number of stars we can detect has increased greatly in the last 100 years, does that mean there are more stars this century than in all human history? This kind of logic is flawed big time. It might seem reasonable at first, thats why a lot of people fall for it.

count down to extinction
by heathen inwith all the escalating violence in the world today and senseless barbarism, how many people on this site are still living in any sense of security.do any of you have a bright outlook for the future of the world we now live in ?is the un the answer to world peace ?personally my out look is dim .i have seen plenty of posts about the god that will annihilate the earth by killing 99% of all people that do not follow his instructions but the way i see it is that mankind has spent the past 100 years trying to find more powerful means to destroy the population and the planet due to paranoia .can such an untrusting and suspicious species exist with such deadly arsenals at their disposal?
i believe it is just a matter of time before something gives and we are living in the mad max movie.
this is my first thread ,so be gentle and thanks for any participation.

Back again:
After jumping around congregations some more we landed in her home Congregation, with her father. I was just finishing up college, summer classes at night after working during the day. I didn't go to meetings for 3 months, it was great. Even though I was tied up in school, at least I was learing something valuable to me. We have been there ever since. Our meeting attendance is regular but we go out in service once a month, just to stay active.
My younger brother is engaged to his girlfriend and is planning on having the wedding in his church. He came over one night to ask us if we were able to come, and we had to say we can't, but we'll discuss it later. I am going to tell him I will go, whether or not my religion will stand for it.
Things are going real wierd for me now. I have an attitude where I speak MY mind about what I think is crap in the society, mostly to my wife. I say comments like "Isn't it horrible that that girl was crying during memorial and nobody would comfort her because she was DF'd". I am trying to prepare her for the moment I tell her I won't go to meetings anymore. I want it to be a situation where she won't have to ask why. I started my sit-down real job after I finished school. Thats when I discovered this ray of light of a site. It feels good to be able to speak my mind again. Its like exercising a muscle you havent used before.
My wife's current situation is different also. She faithfull believes everything that is fed to her because thats all she knows. Everything non JW is demon-possesed, unless she likes it. She wont go see movies about ghosts, but the movie 'Heart and Souls' is her favoriate movie...She complains that all the kids today have potty mouths, but listens to gangsta rap, kid rock, and all the other popular vulgar music. Its as if she wants to be worldy but doesn't have the guts to turn on the org. I don't blame her tho, ALL of her family are witnesses. It would be much harder for her to lose them then I to lose them.
This is where it ends, or should I say I begin....
I have unplugged myself from the matrix...(i had to pull teeth to get her to see that one) and seen the organization for what it really is. I'll keep you guys updated on how things progress, because you really sound sincere with your comments.Sorry if you were looking for a Huge finale, but that has yet to come

JW Rules That Are Just "Too Much"!
by Ephanyminitas ini'm curious: what rules have you dealt with that were just "too much" -- whether they were "official" (i.e.
in print) or not?.
i think a good, general one is r-rated movies.

About that going into another church thing:
My brother is catholic and is getting married in a church soon. If I last that long in the bOrg, thats when i'll make my stand. He came to my wedding so I will go to his. I'll probably get DF'd for it, cause I already talked to elders about it and they said it was considered getting into babalyon the great. Dog returning to its own vomit kinda thing. That is a rule that tears people apart. -

Being DF'd for smoking or gambling. Not that i am a smoker or promote it, but just cuz someone smokes something that is perfectly legal dosn't mean they are bad association. Gambling can be harmless entertainment if not obsessed about it.

I look forward to being able to rest. I still work on sat, but I get paid for it. (software engineer) I made it through school as a JW, despite all the talks on how I can make a sutable living washing windows (my brother in law). Nights off will also be a blessing. Watching whatever I want, being friends with whoever I want, and being myself again. i used to play Role-playing games until i 'realized how bad they were'. I'd love not having to sneak to see the movies i'd like to see too!
Sounds childish, i guess. But thats just it, We are treated like childrenAnd I thought they smelled bad on the outside!

Did anyone else hear that for all the questions of 'Why do we do this?' or 'how come we can't do that?' That was the most BS cop-out answer I have heard. Why can't I sit next to my fiance? It just doesn't look good. Why can't I go on a date alone? It just doesn't look good. BAH! [>:(]
