I have my speech back. Non of our families have been perfect, but we raised as JWs thought they shoud be. I have found there are many secrets in many families. Another sibling can turn out to be a positive thing if you decide to find him. I myself have a half-sister I never got to know and I now wish I had known her, but dad is gone and all his brothers and sisters who might have information on her are gone too. Don't make a decision immediately give yourself time to adjust.

Another Suicide
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inthere wouldn't have been any good way to hear the news i suppose.
it's just so strange to recall the conversation yesterday.
my "still in" parents are with me and my inactive sister having a pleasant conversation.

So Sorry Billy. My heart hurts for you. When someone feels desperate enough to take their own life it breaks all those around him hearts.

It's WT leaders, not elders, who are responsible for all the harm. My Geneva, Switz. lecture posted here for new ones & Sola Scriptura to read
by AndersonsInfo inkeep it secret has been wts child abuse policy for years.
he said the policy that jehovah's witnesses have on how to handle cases of child abuse is without equal in the religious community.
why keep these forms secret?.

Question about "millions now living will never die"
by Perversion of a truth inokay, so the other day someone posted something about the talk in 1918 givin by rutherford (also released in pamplet and the talk repeated numerous times through 1924) titled "the world has ended, millions now living will never die".
when looked up on the watchtower library, numerous times the talk is sometimes referred to as "millions now living will never die" and also "millions now living may never die".
my question is there some honest explanation as to why some times it would read "will" and other times read "may"?

In our family pictures there is one where my Aunts in teens are standing by a big truck with a huge sign the reads "Many Now Living Will Never Die" These Aunts are all dead but one and she is in her 80s. I think my son has my mothers copy of this picture but he hasn't found it yet. I want him to post it here when he finds it.

I am so sorry you lost your friend. I am starting to lose my friends from my JW days and I feel I can't get in touch with their family. I have a cousin I was very close too who is still a JW (both in our 60s) I recently found out she had a stroke and I am fearful of calling her. I know how much this cult rules hurts you.

What's the most extreme thing you ever did to apply Matt 6:33?
by Julia Orwell inas it's conflated with witnessing, meetings and so forth...what's the most extreme sacrifice you made for those things?
for me it was my mental health and maybe a career in something cooler than being an office fungus.. you?.

Julia in the 60's Many of our JW young men were sent to prison during Vietnam war. My husband would have been one but I was pregnant.

Don't submit to baptism. It is NOT the protection parents think it will be. Why are they pushing the very young to be baptised because most if they follow in Jesus footsteps/and wait to 30 we are at the stage of life to finally use our own critcal thinking and start to question those in authority. My heart is with you and may you make the best decision for yourself.

First post
by EastCoastMindFree ini have been on this site lurking for over 2 years and this is my first post, i feel so bottled with emotion that i have to let it out somehow so i do not have an emotional breakdown!
i was raised in the organization and am married with 2 children ages 4 and 2. my wife and i have been inactive for about 2 years and i have always had hard questions that were never answered growing up, such as blood policy and how david and his men were allowed to eat from the bread reserved for the high priests without death penalty since it was life or death.
carbon dating on human remains/tools that date back 30-40k years, far surpassing the 6k year man creation date, the double standards and very real "human" aspect on the organization and its decisions and history.

The longer you stay in the longer it takes to break away from cult thinking and the more likely your children will imitate your cult thinking. I faded when my children were young but didn't fade enough and both of my children stayed long enough to be baptised. My grandchildren have not been raised around JW thinking and they are more comfortable living their FREE lives. Welcome to JWN.
