I have a good friend that is cheating (with her boss) on the guy she lives with. I keep telling her that she needs to either break it off with the boss or move into her own place and away from the boyfriend. The guy she lives with is friends with my husband and me but there are things about him that are troubling. I am so afraid that he is going to start asking me questions and I don't know how to handle it. He's kind of a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, has been married 3 times before and all of his ex-wives have cheated on him. Has anyone else been in this situation? Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Johnna - not to change the subject but I lived in San Diego for a few years. Just moved away from there recently. I really miss it, especially the weather, the mountains but definitely not the traffic.

Elders and JWs who study a lot...
by cognac indo you think they know its not the truth???
elders, for example, through jcs are privied to info about the jw involvement with the un, 607 bce, etc, etc... .
people who actually do study a lot, you think they figured it out???.

They are taught to study the publications. The scriptures that are referenced are to give the illusion that whatever is being discussed is scriptural. When I was a good little dub I would look up the scriptures cited without REALLY reading them, just gave them a quick once over to see what they were and notate it in the margin of my WT to show that I really did study. What a crock! It wasn't until I started having doubts that I really read the scripture to see if it backed up what was trying to be conveyed. Sometimes I would scratch my head and think that it was a bit of a stretch. Most JW's blindly accept that it means what they say it means without ever questioning, afterall...if something is not understood correctly, "Jehovah will straighten it out in his own due time, we just have to wait on Jehovah."

Anyone Shunned Even Though Not Baptized?
by Country Girl ini've found that even though i was raised a jw, but never baptized, i'm pretty much still shunned.
i can still talk to them, but they pretty much they still treat me the same.

I have a niece who HATES the witnesses to this day because she was shunned by most of her witness family on her mom's side. Her mom & dad were both raised witnesses, they divorced, her dad stayed in and her mom left for good. Her dad remarried a witness and they had kids. The kids friends were not allowed to bring their half-sister over because she was "worldly" and it has made her very bitter. Fortunately my side of the family never treated her differently but we did make her feel like an outcast at times (unintentionally) until she set me straight. I really felt bad for even making her feel even slightly different.

Thanks, Nelly. I used to be in the same congregation as the Uptons but had forgotten about their case against the society. I had always wondered what the outcome was.
