Pureheart, you hit a nerve with me. I, too, use to spank my oldest son for not sitting still at the meetings, assemblies, etc. I only spanked him so as to not look bad to the rest of the congregation.
What sadists we were for forcing a 2-year-old with abundant energy to sit still for 2 hours, not to mention all day at the assemblies. We should have been committed to the luney-bin.

as per usual the truth of the rumour is a bit different from what is said on the witness grapevine.

eman has highlighted with great effect the quick-hit type of approach when you're confronted with the question "why have you left jehovah" or words to that effect.. how about thinking of simple one-line replies for the occasions when you can't string a number of points into a hard-hitting paragraph?.

I mentioned this to my mom-in-law and she said that was not true. But I remember hearing that Jesus is the mediator only between Jehovah and the annointed, we benefit by extension. If anyone knows where that is stated in the literature, please post or email me with it. I will, in the meantime, start looking for it.

last night at meeting they told us to just use our blood cards from last year.
in the past they've always told us how important it was to get it signed every year so that people could see our current views as jw's.....doesn't this new arangement negate everything they've ever said in regards to this?
absolutely nuts!.
What if you lost yours? Will they issue new ones? Will it only be to baptized publishers? I still have mine from years ago, but it hasn't been signed by any elders.
What about newly baptized ones from this year? Can they ask for one?

the other day, i was messaged by a young jw guy (using yahoo messenger, where i am breezyone2001; chat me up, gang!).
his opening line to me was, "why are you attacking the witnesses?
" i responded by asking him in what way i was attacking the witnesses, and he said that he saw my name in a yahoo club for ex-jw's.
Nice post, Neon. I think we all go through a similar experience. We have a tendency to reject all JW doctrine because we feel we were deceived on other issues, so all issues/doctrines must be false. I think for anyone that remained in the borg for a substantial amount of time (I was raised in it) it is very hard to shake certain doctrines. We have never been allowed to think for ourselves, it was always done for us. Therefore, when we gain freedom from the borg, it takes a while to decipher the garbage from what is really true. That path takes each one of us into a different direction.
From what I've experienced from visiting this board is that many take the path into atheism. Maybe it's because, as you stated, the JW's tend to demonize all other religions.
