Counting their chickens before they're hatched,
I've wondered how one can count chickens before they're hatched? We all know that eggs hatch. So will they have egg on their face?

so in trying to keep family off my ass i sat in with family "worship" from the imitate their faith book.
in chapter three it starts off saying that abram was ten generations away from noah.
imagine the looks of anger and frustration i was given when i kept reading the sentence as abram being one generation removed from noah.
No, I think they said about two years after Noah died Abram was born, but they claim as fact that Noah's son Shem was the only one who taught Abram about God. That claim is based on the simple act of Noah saying, "Blessed be Jehovah the God of Shem". The book made a few more claims that cannot be found in the Bible. It reminds me of a recent conversation where a couple jw's from the KH were oozing with praise for the governing body's great insight on Holy Scripture by filling in many details of the life of Abel...that are nowhere to be found in the Bible. They were awe struck by how "wise" the governing body is to be able to fill those unrecorded details in for the mere mortals who read their books.

Outside of a dog, a book is man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read
Okay, I'll play.
Beside a dog, a book is man's best friend. But what about in front of a dog, or behind it?

Finally I was interrupted and corrected. "The paragraph says TENTH GENERATION!"
I just laughed and said, "Not according to the governing body and their interpretation of what a generation is. Are YOU going against them? Which is correct? The Bible's explanation of generation, or the governing body's? It can't be BOTH ways, can it?"
I'm going to have to sit in more often. That was fun!
More obvious contradictions in the future.
hey gang,.....i continue to write as thoughts come to me.
i would love to hear how the ladies here feel about my observations on how the wtbs views/treats women.. new article here: http://darrinhart.hubpages.com/hub/gods-view-of-women-according-to-the-watchtower-bible-tract-society.

And I found the born in men so shallow and only go for the airhead good looking girls.
While I saw this displayed by many single "brothers" I also saw the truth of the statement that there are two sides to every coin. The high number of "sisters" who would not give a second look at a single man who did not have a large....bank account, the newest vehicle, a title in the congregation. And heaven help a man who did not sport a full head of hair, perfectly groomed. Just sayin'. Usually those women wound up with abusive chrisitan husbands.
this is a story about an old friend many years ago a girl about 18 that was in her last year of highschool when one of the boys in her school took a liking to her.
knowing she was a jw and probably told by her that she wouldnt date him because of this he feigned interest in the truth.
he started a bible study with one of the brothers in the hall and of course was on her like white on rice.. .
A woman I know, married twenty some years, four kids. Her non-jw husband cheated on her repeatedly. When she finally had enough and threw his ass out and filed for divorce he suddenly "saw the light" and started studying "da troof" with the eldurr that the woman worked for.
When he got baptized he told the eldurr that he wanted to make up wit' her. He played on the kids feelings with bigs ideas of the grandest KH wedding ever seen.
She wanted nothing to do with him, and said so. So in good christian manner the eldurr fired her. Her ex refused to pay court ordered CS. She had a home and four kids to try to support without any help from the eldurrs or their jealous wives. In desperation she caved in and re-married the azz-a-whole. He promptly quit meetings, moved in with his girlfriend and was df'd. She never did get any help.
So typical of them, don't you think?
I reacted/posted about the two quotes as I have not reacted...
So let me get this straight...Your REACTION to their thoughts on the thread was NOT a reaction...but rather a REACTION. Are you perhaps an eldurr? Or are you a politician?
How are you judging my reaction?
Perhaps the same way YOU are judging their proper reactions?
.45 ACP with a CWP. They had better be sure I stay down, permanently, if they ever target me! I refuse to be a victim.
i know this has been dished over before, but when i was doing some research i discovered a couple of interesting points.
as far as i can find, there is only one wt article that implies that jw men should not have beards.

Papua New Guinea (a country in which I recently lived for a total of eight years, and thus had ample opportunity in which to observe 1. what is local custom, and 2. what the WTS stand was.)
according to the WT$ local customs are to be ignored by anyone who is a "christian", as quoted in the 09/15/2013 WT:
But does this mean that as long as long as there is no clearly stated law from God, we can just follow the ways and standards that we are brought up with and that are common in our area? There are at least two important reason why that is not so for Christians.
Emphasis mine. It has nothing to do with customs, or what people perceive that jw's preach at. It is all about CONTROL. How many hoops can we make you jump through? How high can we get you to jump? How much of what makes an individual unique can we stifle in the interest of uniformity and sameness?
