for a year now, i have been handling the accounts.
we have 6 elders and 7 ms, and none of them ( i am not serving), want to do the accounts, so they asked me to do it.
here is what i have noticed.. 4 elderly sisters cover the whole congregation in donations monthly!
Maybe some of them got their eyes opened by unnecessary kingdom hall renovation/redecoration that they were expected to pay for, just because the colors in the hall did not go with some elder's complexion.
Yeah...the one where I used to go did a $65,000.00 remodel. Perfectly good items like miocrophones, mixing console etc went to the garbage dump!
But hey they had a KH that they could brag about.

Some years ago when I was "priveleged" to handle accounts I noticed it was mostly the poor and lame that contributed. The exception was a smarmy "brother" who screwed around on both of his two wives, was a chronic public drunk, lost three businesses due to tax fraud, and had a mouth that would make even the most hardened Marine or sailor blush, and routinely flipped the bird in public at the American flag who made very sizable contributions courtesy of embezzeled business money. I personally won't give one nickel to an organization that operates like that. Thank Gawd I am no longer active.
i was told recently about a situation where an elder did not get recommended to serve upon moving to a new hall.
i think he left for a job.
but, something internal politics happened in the old hall and he was not recommended.
I have noticed that "spirit" does in reality plyb a HUGE role in men getting the coveted titles of MS or Elder. But the spirit that plays that role in all cases I know of is the spirit one finds in a bottle of good Scotch, or in high priced Tequila. If one puts on a great appearence to mens eyes, says all the right things, and "kisses" the right asses you will be appointed no matter how sinful you are. But the more spiritual one is the less chance of getting those all important positions and titles. It's strange how the less intelligent a person is the more intimidated they are by anyone who is more intelligent than they are.
just when i was thinking i don't like ted talks, this is an excellent take on job creation and wealth distribution.

WOW! Just what I thought. Ex-jws are nearly all exactly like still in's. A bunch of welfare leaches!
so i have a friend in a congregation in new jersey who recently called me to tell me that he got a divorce.
nothing surprising there at first but it is the fact of when it happened.
his wife began pioneering april 1, and after about three weeks she came to him and told him that about 4 years she had engaged in loose conduct (fondling the penis and the guy kissing her breasts) during a time that she was inactive.
I don't know your friend from a hole in the ground, however I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to believe him. It sounds like someone making excuses for what they are doing and trying to blame anyone else for it. But IF he is telling the truth, then the so-called elder that laid this load of shit on him is lying through his teeth (no surprise there either). I knew a guy who now lives in Texass who got all pizzy about his wife's previous daliances because she didn't give him a blow-by-blow (pun intended) account of each one of them. The new breed of jw is one (F)(U)(C)(K)(E)(D) up bunch of nitwits!
page 20:.
the unwary may adopt the same view of theocratic arrangements.
they may be unwilling to go along with congregation procedures and may even complain about anything not to their liking.
Edumacation WTF is that? Oh it must be what makes people use terms from the stage like, "What does this mean for you and I?' I would love to answer, "Well I'm not sure about you, but for I it means that ME must....." Or the nitwits who use the word simular, instead of similar! Or nucular, instead of nuclear. or...oh hell there are way to many ignorant fools that try to "teach" others. No wonder I am a piztjw! HAHAHAHA

So the big question is...were any of them able to "choke their chickens"?
there is a catch-22 that can trip you up at the local kingdom hall.. .
if you receive "counsel" from an elder about any behavior at all and you "resist" or question the counsel you can be accused of having a "spirit of rebellion".. .
so, you have to either shut up and comply (with even the most ludicrous and ill-founded suggestions) or answer back and be chastised and "marked".. .
Personlly I have found the single best answer to use is, "Well, you may have a point. I will give it further consideration."
Then I promptly forget what they said.
In a case a few years ago I was supposed to read the WT article about marrying "only in the lord" and was hauled in the back room because, "some might be offended because you married a non-jw (thirteen years ago)."
The shearer of sheep that "counseled" me waited until he was the sole "elder" in town to voice his personal opinion.
Now every time any of them ask, "Why aren't you doing (insert whatever order they yammer)?", I simply say, "Well someone just MIGHT be offended by my doing that, and I SURELY don't want to "stumble" any of the weak ones!"
The hypocrisy of the congregation fleecers of the sheep preaching about forgiveness then refusing to practice what they preach was instrumental in my seeing TTATT
let's have a bit of a laugh.. .
who of you rolled your eyes when brother never ending prayers was called up to give the closing prayer?.
who of you then proceeded to tap your feet, fidget loudly or start doing balancing acts off the back of the chair in front of you while waiting for it to end?.
I'll never forget the eight and one-half minute prayer that part-by-part summed up an entire DC that I suffered through about seven years ago.
The CO who yammered through it must have thought he was supposed to give another closing speech.
If we didn't listen to the talks as they were given there really isn't much point to rehashing it all at the end.
