If people burned in hell forever and ever after death. I believe that the Bible would specifically state that. It does not state when such a thing started. The belief is that those who don't believe in Jesus, when they die they go to hell and burn. So the belief is that it started when Jesus started. But wouldn't Jesus teach a death 101 and explain that in no uncertain terms?

Hell, what is it
by Anony Mous inso perhaps we all heard the jw story about jesus talking to gehenna and he was referring to a place outside the city where there was a dump burning refuse and everyone knew what it meant.. according to jw.org: tradition relates that the valley of hinnom thereafter became a place for the disposal of garbage.
and the bible provides confirmation for this.
at jeremiah 31:40, for example, the valley of hinnom is evidently called the “low plain of the carcasses and of the fatty ashes.” there was also the “gate of the ash-heaps,” a gate that seems to have opened out onto the eastern extremity of the valley of hinnom at its juncture with the kidron valley.—nehemiah 3:13, 14.. i think i heard that in the study of the greatest teacher book first.

JW.org missing the point of the last supper
by neat blue dog inof course most christians partake in different ways at different intervals (the bible never says strictly annual) but obviously the main point is christ's flesh and blood.
for jws the main attraction is the organization's sales pitch and in the new 2023 memorial invitation they pretty much admit it, quote:.
the main feature of the memorial is a talk.

Yes, the Bible says it is to be annual.
The memorial is to replace the passover which was annual.

Why Do JW`s still use the Name Jehovah ,when they admitted in the Aid Book that it is not the correct pronunciation of his name ?
by smiddy3 inisn`t that an admittion that they don`t have the "truth" ?

God Gave his name to Moses and other in Hebrew and the closest we have is Yahweh.
But if he were to give it to people today, he would give it in English and that would be Jehovah.

Have you ever been on a congregation picnic?
by LostintheFog1999 inwere you ever on a congregation picnic?
i was on several occasions.. the arrangements were often announced from the platform after the closing song and prayer by the last elder up on the platform.. sometimes it was included in the service meeting announcements as "on saturday we're meeting at 10.00am at the kingdom hall for field service, and after field service for anyone who wishes, especially for the younger ones, we will be having a congregation picnic meeting at the beach carpark on seaview road.".
well, according to the new elders manual you won't be hearing those words again.

I've gone to meetings in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and I don't remember any of them.
But what I remember are the congregation picnics and softball games and wedding receptions.
To the GB, let's focus on the forgettable and eliminate the rememorable.

Keep telling yourself that!
by Lost in the fog inin the latest copy of the elders textbook someone kindly made available to us on this website, i see that "independently organized meetings for spiritual feeding" are still not allowed.
no wonder because independent research would let the scales fall from the eyes.. the gb still insisting that they are guided by the (always lower case) holy spirit and the bible!!
not that the rank and file members need the bible or holy spirit themselves because they are fed through meetings, conventions, assemblies, jw broadcasting and the publications.

"No wonder because independent research would let the scales fall from the eyes."
Why do people keep saying this when it is not true?
The truth is independent research further solidifies the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses.
What the OP stated was the selfish things that they don't like that are taught and they seek a way to support them.

Have the Jehovah's Witnesses brought reproach on the name Jehovah?
by Vanderhoven7 ini would have to say yes...by tagging god's alledged name in their title and attaching to it unusual doctrines, end of world date predictions, deadly blood interpretation, abusive shunning policy, csa cover ups.. is there more?.

Atheists and evolutionist say that God brings reproach on his own name by neglecting the earth and humanity.

"Why did Jehovah`s Witnesses settle on the pronunciation of God`s name as Jehovah ?"
They didn't settle on it. That is what God's name is in English. He gave it to Hebrew speaking people in the Hebrew language as Yahveh. But to English speaking people he gave it as Jehovah.

WT Ruining Members' Futures
by HiddlesWife inwhat i mean by the title of this thread is what has happened to a relative of mine, one who is really upset about this factor:.
this relative is a distant cousin on my mother's side of the family.
she studied as a child and got baptized at 14 1/2 years old.

"She now at age 55 doesn't have a retirement plan, and she has very little savings in her bank account."
And what does that have to do with religion? There are very many non-JWs who are in the same boat and even ones with University degrees.
Why are you looking at this one sided when it applies to everyone?

Who really is the Faithful and Discreet Slave?
by Godlyman inif anyone were to come up to you claiming that they are the faithful and discreet slave, how would you go about proving them to be false, based upon scripture?.

Konagirl:
@Rattagan 350 - "It does not matter. You don't build a religion based on one scripture."
"I agree to a point. Each scripture, matters. "
I don't think that any scripture matters. Scripture is just past writings telling of God's will.
His will and purposes will continue even if never written down.
Many things that Jesus said were never written down. If the F&DS saying was written down, then what would they have?
