A few years ago we had a Circuit assembly on Super bowl Sunday. The DO mentioned it in his parts about people leaving early for the game. Everyone around here has parties. -

Watchtower has a Philosophy of Totalism
by OnTheWayOut incults tend to have a total explanation for everything- everything that ever happened, everything that is happening now, and everything that ever will happen.
that certainly fits watchtower.
they have a black-and-white perception of everything, they are never wrong, there are no gray areas.

Only the Sith believe in absolutes.
This just shows how fake everyone is and is encouraged to be. People can't display their real feelings for fear of being judged. Married couples are fake to each other, children towards parents, etc.

Counting service time in a creative way
by nevaagain incouting time and, how to count time while doing as little service as possible is often a hot topic around witnesses.
i even overheard pioneers discussing about it.
they call it "creative time counting" (i translated that phrase from a different language so bear with me ;-).

This all goes back to the days when there was a pioneer discount on the books and meal tickets. Pioneers had to count that time and do it properly to make sure that they earned that discount.
There has been no pioneer discount since 1989 but people still think they need to earn it.

A quick summary of topics and issues wrong with jws
by stuckinarut2 inyou know how our minds often get all "fuzzy" and confused when we are put on the spot and asked to come up with points?
we often tend to lose focus and go off on tangents?.
im trying to compile a basic list of bullet points for the most obvious and clear problems / doctrines / history of witnesses that can blow the org out of the water.. it is more for the purpose of getting my own thoughts clear rather than using it to talk to witnesses (as that doesn't really work).

Those things listed are not things wrong with jws. They are things that past leaders did. The past is the past.
Stick with current things such as mental manipulation and ruling by fear in order to get people to become dependant and addicted to ultimately get the money.

The best argument that we have an immaterial part (called Spirit/Soul) came from Jesus Christ
by abiather inthe best argument that we have an immaterial part (called spirit/soul) came from jesus christ.
however, it is recorded in the gospel of thomas (not in the traditional four gospels).
jesus says: if the flesh came into existence because of the spirit, it is a marvel.

Is that the best that can be done? A quote from a non-canon book?

Honesty: That info is wrong. He did not die in 2003. He gave talks after that. -

Who is your favorite "Apostate"? Who helped you see the truth about "The Truth"?
by minimus ini would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .
and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

Some mentioned John Ankerberg and Walter Martin. I met John 28 years ago. I didn't agree with him because he promotes Baptistism and the trinity. I'm still against Christendom and these Bible debates and ping pong. I don't see how that can help someone see the truth about the truth, that just promotes arguments about scripture and drives one more towards JWs because Baptists twists scripture more. -

My first thoughts were: You all are a bunch of stinkin apostates who don't know anything. I thought the organization was good.
Now looking back since I've come to see how the organization is, I was the one who didn't know anything. Wish I had left sooner. I see so many said that they left in 1995 (1995 is the new 1975) over the generation change. I wish I did. I wish the internet was as developed back then
