Jesus said to keep doing this in remembrance of him.
But don't we have the Gospels and the Greatest Man book for remembrance of him?
hey.
does anyone else dread attending (in person or on zoom) the memorial months in advance?.
literally as soon as new year hits, i feel sick and super anxious, and i've realised it's because of the memorial, which i only attend because of family, who kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz i left the jw sevel years ago..

mass shooting at a kingdom hall in hamburg, germany this evening.
at least 6 or 7 killed, dozens injured.
single shooter on the run, police doesn't rule out more shooters.
Published on jw website newsroom
On March 9, 2023, a shooter attacked the Hamburg-Winterhude Kingdom Hall after the midweek meeting had concluded. Sadly, four brothers, two sisters, and a sister’s unborn child were killed in this shooting. Several other brothers and sisters were injured. Local elders are providing spiritual comfort to the family members and friends of those affected. We appreciate the courageous help provided by the police and emergency services. Our prayers are with all those affected by the attack. We are confident that Jehovah, the God of peace, will continue to be a refuge and strength in this time of distress.—Psalm 9:9; 46:1; Philippians 4:9."
A shooter? Appreciate the courageous help by the police. Refuge and strength? huh?
Can they ever do anything without a script?

CBS news reported he was a 35 year old exjw who had a sport shooting license permit for the pistol and undiagnosed mental illness.
this book was published around 1990, but was never studied (to my knowledge).
does anyone know the reason why?.
It was never studied in the Congregation's book study.
i had a thought about neutrality...how we were never to take sides on political issues, say by voting.
how does that square with the letters we were asked to write to various lawmakers in countries-not too many years ago we were ask to write to russian officials.
i wonder if there is to be a letter writing to norway.
Jesus never said to be Neutral. He said his kingdom is no part of the world.
The neutrality comes in when they say American JWs didn't fight against Germany and German JWs didn't fight against the Allies. That's not neutrality. That was their saying: We didn't kill anyone from any sides.
But German and Japanese JWs would have known that their was was bad, but the Allied JWs would have known that their war was good. That is the difference.
Same with today. JWs in Russia wouldn't be fighting Putin's war, so anyone fighting against the Russians wouldn't be killing JWs there. But JWs in Ukraine should be against the war criminal Putin.

this is not a joke.

"The Governing body that have 'ill health' are generally still GovBod are not 'removed'"
I have never heard of them putting the title "Emeritus" before a position, such as Governing body Emeritus.
i was trying to think of some common jw words and phrases i don't think are in the bible .. new world order new system spiritual israel governing body channel of communication organization reporting time pioneer aux pioneer circuit overseer kingdom hall circuit assembly district convention....,maybe you can think of something to add if you are inclined..
How many Bible words are in the Bible?
Why do we have to mirror the Bible? Why is that the authority?
Why can't there be use of words not in the Bible or not use words that are in the Bible?
In other words, what's so special about the Bible?
the organisation is now creating museums in 35 countries, is that their new way of making money?
nowhere does the bible say that christians should engage to such activity but is it possible the watchtower is now making it a priority for :.
a. look like they have something to offer to the community.
Why does it need to say in the Bible that Christians should engage in such activities before they do that?
spotted this picture on a friend's page, he was highlighting the mental health issue.
however,we thought the magazine on stress was deliberately placed in the summer months because for any jw going to a convention, paying high season hotel rates for themselves or their whole family to stay near the convention centre, fighting coworkers and managers to get the time off work, travelling expenses, buying their own meals for the family, buying new shiny suits and dresses to impress (particularly if you have teenage girls who are looking for their prince), and more.... by the time they come home again and straight away back to work, their nerves will be so frazzled that their stress levels will have sky rocketed!.
as brother elder says to them, "don't worry.
The governing body decided one new public issue of Watchtower?
Was there a dispute that was brought to them for them to decide this?
It was more like a case of someone made a suggestion and the GB members agreed with it.

I think that the problem is that there is a governing body at all.
In the overview of Acts 15 it says "Letter from the governing body in Jerusalem".
There was an issue with some teaching that one must be circumcised to be saved.
Paul and Barnabas disputed them.
Those two and others went to the apostles and elders in Jerusalem.
Vs 6 "So the apostles and the elders gathered together to look into this matter."
It does not list names other than Peter and James. There was no set board or body of brothers on this 'governing body'.
It doesn't sound like Paul was even on this group of apostles and older men.
In the account there is little focus on the Apostles and older men. Just the issue, and the discussion and the result. And the result was more freedom and not duty to the law.
And it sounds like a one time thing.
