3rd year of Jehoiakim was in 607/605. That started the clock counting 2520 years. ending in 1914/1916 with Jesus enthroned as king.

probably everyone else thought of this long ago, but i, being an "independent thunker" thunk of it just a coupla weeks ago.. we all know that since the year zero (on the fredfranzian calendar) the wtb&ts has defied archaeology and insisted that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, even though the physical evidence shows that 587 bce is a more likely date.

in fact, the book "the gentile times reconsidered: have jehovah's witnesses been wrong all along about 607 bce?

" by carl olof jonsson and rud persson made this conversation public.. it is a difference of 20 years.

607 did not originate with the Watchtower or CT Russell. It started back in the 1820s.

The problem is that they base the start of the gentile times on the destruction of Jerusalem when that is not the trigger of it.

They know that a ban on transfusions is not based on God's law. The comparison to taking in blood through the veins is like food through the veins is expanding God's law and like the pharisees did. Jesus rejects that.

What exactly IS 1914 these days?

it's no longer a year tying to the present (the old pre-1995 generation belief).

realistically, that's the only reason why it mattered.

and if it doesn't really matter what it is anymore, why would jw not do away with it?.

1914 is needed because that is what ties Nathan's prophesy to David about his seed being kings to time indefinite leading to jesus being king. But Jesus lived and died and did not become king. What gives? Did the prophesy fail?

No. Dan 4 tells us of 7 times or 2520 years that will pass when the kingdom was paused.

That started in 607 when the king lost sovereignty. That ended in 1914 with Jesus being installed as king.

Simple as that.

How Does WT Explain away, "Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord"?

9wherefore also we make it our aim, whether at home or absent, to be well-pleasing unto him.. since watchtower teaches there is only one "you" and not three (soul, body & spirit); how do jw's deal with the fact that scripture says that it is possible for a person to be absent from their body and to be present with the lord in heaven?when i was pioneering, i don't recall a householder every dropping this verse on me; and i'm not sure how i would have handled it if they did.

First, that was Paul and he didn't know everything. He wrote to the anointed back then.

His lack of knowledge lead to the rapture belief.

When person who had been anointed with holy spirit, dies and is resurrected, that one will be with the Lord.

Simple as that.

New light on shunning?

one theory why tony was booted out was because he was a stickler for not changing the shunning doctrine.

he actually said the words we will never ever change it.. they are slowly deleting all of tony’s videos and now losing court cases and losing government hand outs in places like norway.. it’s looking very likely they will release new light on shunning policy after losing this latest one in norway.. .

what are the odds they coincidentally get new light from jehovah and lighten up their shunning policy ?.

Why does it matter who will be killed at Armageddon? Everyone would die at some point anyway.

the GB claim to be spirit directed, but the organization is run by humans.

jesus was enthroned by the 7 times prophecy. yes, Michael did the Job that Jesus was prophesied to do.

regarding the poster from jw headquarters, who claimed that the gb would eventually loosen the rules regarding sex.

the question is, is there really a bible rule explicitly prohibiting sex without marriage?

because this would be the only possible reason why loosening those rules would even come up in a discussion.

Either Israel Society had a law against it, or Post Jesus there was a law.

Jehovah does not care about sex outside marriage. He made the law because humans care. They get jealous and have children out of wedlock.

i used to comment here many years ago when i had an interest in biblical research in relation to jehovah’s witnesses.

these days my biblical research is little concerned with jehovah’s witnesses.

i feel my time is better spent researching the diachronistic development of the biblical text and ascertaining what the biblical writers and editors intended in the times in which they lived.. i have recently placed a summary diagram for a paper that i have written with original research entitled the narrative structure of the hexaemeron on academia.edu.
