  How Long???

  i have been drifting for about 1 1/2 years now and was hoping that in a year or two i would have distanced myself enough from the org.

  that i can actually start living my life exactly the way i want to...aka celebrating the holidays by putting lights on the house, not having to tell my daughter not to say anything about going trick or treating, getting birthday presents or going to cheerleader camp.

  but i read some posts in the disfellowhiping thread started by somebody where people have been inactive for 3 years and are still disfellowhiped!

  I just got a phone call from my uncle, who used to be an elder until he decided to have some fun, and he told me that one of the elders in my former cong. called to ask him if he knew where my sister works. (she is a dancer at a gentleman's club, aka stripper) She quit going to meetings about 2 yrs ago and they are still asking questions about her. They have not asked her directly.

  I have only been out for about 1 1\2 yrs but they are still asking questions about me. Again, they have never had the guts to ask me directly. If it weren't for the fact we have family still in the borg we would say "F*** you and get lost". My parents are in thier 60's and my mom has cancer so I would like to be able to communicate with them for the last few yrs of their lives. Christmas is coming up and we do plan to celebrate discreetly. (keep the tree in my office just in case relatives come over).

  Has anyone mentioned that it wasn't Adam who originally sinned? Remember that according to the story Eve not only caved to one simple arguement by Satan but SHE also went to Adam and convinced him to sin also.

  Adam was created with the need for the woman and did not want to live without her. Sounds like men were created with a character flaw. (If you believe that story)

  NEWS: I am publicly reproved over UN situation.

  my wife and i met with 3 elders for a "judicial hearing".. our crime: simply put, was talking.

  i showed a friend the un website where the wts was listed as an ngo which then led to a 2 hour discussion of various doubts that we both have had.

  my wife also showed a friend the un thing but also discussed with her a first hand account of a pedophile cover-up that we knew about in our former congregation.

  Oh please, call the whhhaaaaaaaaaaambulance. No most are not victims of the WT. A lot like being a witness. Your only a victim if you let yourself be. You went to the elders when they wanted to meet with you. I won't meet with them because what I do is none of their business. I don't know why anybody feels sorry for you. Your the dumbass that went. But some must keep the whining going instead of having the fortitude to actually move on.

  I guess there were no victims in the holocaust, right? They should have seen it coming and got out of the country, right? I guess there are no rape victims, right? They were just in an area they shouldn't have been or were dressed like they were asking for it, right?

  If everyone believed that there are no victims then there would be noone fighting for justice. You say it's a fight that cannot be won and maybe you are right but IT IS A STILL WORTH FIGHTING FOR! When you get some balls and face some of these issues head on instead of running away then you will be able to feel some of the injuries expessed by these soldiers for truth and freedom. Until then, I personally, could do without your ignorant posts.

  The three reasons we leave the "Truth"

  seems to me there are mainly three roads most of us have taken.

  1.we did something "wrong" and were disfellowshipped and after felt able to look at the society in a different light.. 2.we didn't like the "truth" and were looking for a way out.. 3.we wanted it to be the truth but were overcome by the mountain of evidence against it.. which is the most common i wonder.. also do our motives play a large part in how we deal with information criticising the org.. without a reason to act information seems useless.. for instance if a person feels he has nothing to gain by leaving the org will he read different things into the same info as us?.

  i think so and that all who leave must have a reason to do so, something to gain.. this does not make their reasoning wrong or prove they we are looking for just excuse.. but is a normal way in which humans deals with information.. two humans can have the same information but if they want or desire different things they may use the information differently.. maybe thats wht so many say "where else is there to go?

  Ok, 3 is about the closest. I'm just sorry it took me so long to find out! I wanted to do the "right" thing. I discovered contradictions in the JW teachings (1914). Then I found out that there is no "right" thing. I am much happier now than I ever was as a JW.

  When did these Witnesses find out re UN?

  one thing i've noticed about these witness admissions of and justifications for the society's 10-year association with the un is that in many cases, the speakers sound as if they have known about the situation for a while.. otherwise, how can they justifiably come across as so cocksure if they've only learned about it now?.

  "of course we need to be registered with them for promoting human rights and the preaching work!

  it's just like being a legal corporation.

  I no longer have my WT CDROM but I'm pretty sure that the UN is reffered to as "unclean". So even association just for information would be hypocritical.

  Wow! Someone else plays flag football. Collecting meteorites? It's amazing the things we come up with when we finally open our minds. I hope everyone looks back on their time as a witness and learns the value of freedom because we have seen a contrast that most in our country don't get to see. I felt the urge here to say exercise your freedom by doing something you couldn't but I can't do that. What I can say is "Enjoy your freedom even if that means that you are free to do nothing at all."

  I don't know how I left out the Sex. It's just too obvious. I remember giving a Sunday talk about Marraige. I had a section in there about Sex. Boy would I like to have that talk again! I can see it now.....Ears, Eyes and Mouths wide open. LOL

  Sex is quantum leaps ahead of where it was when I was a witness. Just the other day I thought I was going to have a heart attack and I remember thinking "what a way to go!"

  There are so many things I do now that I couldn't do then. Like the "R" movies. I feel like such a bad boy. [;0] Now I can go to clubs and drink, listen to a live band and DANCE. Woooo Hoooo!!!
  Holidays? Driving over the speed limit? Buying a sports car without 4 doors?

  Mine is flag football. I never was "allowed" to play any kind of organized sports (being an elder's son). It is a great way to get out aggression!
