I had a friend in elementary school that I still think of as a good friend. Steve Adams. At the time he was like a brother to me even though he was "worldly" and I was an elders son. At school we were just friends. I felt the guilt administered at the meetings about having friends in the world but I was very close anyway. I haven't seen him in about 15 yrs.

Would you let your kids bf/gf sleep-over?
by Abaddon inat what age would you be happy with your kid's boyfriend and girlfriend 'sleeping over'?.
would the rules be different for boys vs. girls?.
personally, i think given a choice between 'it' happening anyway god-knows-where and giving a suitably mature kid some privacy, i go for the privacy option.. what do you think?

plmcrzy,
Sounds like a good situation but you can limit how much it happens. You should make sure they are aware of contraception.

Dana,
Who are you again? I'm sure you told me. I'm usually very good with names.......I'm usually good with faces too.......I'm sure I've seen you around. Aren't you the one who's leaving every other month? No wait. Aren't you the one who's always picking a fight?............. No I don't think so. Let's see............You're from Australia.....Right? Am I getting warm? Oh I know! You're the one who hates your family. Or is it the other way around?
Anyway........I love you.....even if no one else does.

Dont blame the witnesses, its the Bible...
by sleepy indont blame the witnesses, its the bible's fault.. well you can blame them for trying to stick to the thing, but belief in the bible is the main problem.. i've heard the gb and witnesses be called evil by some, as though they have gone out to hurt people on purpose.. but i doubt that this is true, at least in recent times.. no the problem comes from believing the bible is god's word and trying to interpret it and follow it.. what happens when you do so?.
you get the catholic inquisition, people burnt at the stake, you get jews fighting for a promised land, religious groups who let their children die and a host of other problems.. i ask a question.if you were god and were going to have a book written on how man should live, would you do it in such a way that if misinterpeted or taken too literaly or mistranslated slightly , could result in the death and suffering of thousands of people, and would enslave people to false religious beliefs?.
yes there are good points and principles in the bible, mainly the words of jesus, who didn't write any of it himself.. but a few good principles don,t outweight the bad done in the name of the bible through the past 2000 years.. the society has tried to follow the bible, and take it for real .in doing so they have had to take on beliefs and ideas that can ultimatly cause harm.. it is like me reading a instruction manuel for my car, that is a fake written by a non-expert.if i follow that manuel , although it may not be all wrong, some instuctions could be in error and cause damage to my car and risk injury to other people.. if people then come along after and say "well its not the manuel thats wrong , you've just misunderstood it , look if you do it this way, that way..".

Gumby,
Suppose we go go to God right now and ask him......"God...what do you think of all the bad things that have happened because of your word the bible"?
I know you addressed this to Sleepy but I've got to tell you that I just asked God that very question and Ya know What? What would his answer be Sleepy?
Silence................................Just silence.
I know I need someone to help me with the interpretation of that so could you help. What was God trying to tell me by his silence? Am I not worthy of his attention? Have I pissed him off? Is he busy using the privy? Please help.......

Sorry I couldn't get back earlier. I ran out of posts. That's what happens when someone else "borrows" your account.
I'd love to go back to the 80's in LA. LA was the perfect example of excess and parties. We could have some fun there.

I'm not sure about that one: How about this? you put all the pennies standing on thier side so that there are no pennies facing heads up.

Do men and women leave the Borg for Diff...Reasons
by tyydyy ini was wondering about he differences between men and women.
could it be that women leave for different reasons than men?
do men tend to leave because of evidence and logic?
-
tyydyy
For me, the decision to leave was purely doctrinal. I heard things that I didn't agree with from the platform and then researched the 607 issue. Before I made the decision to leave, I didn't even realize that I was being deprived of my freedoms.
Xena, on the other hand, wanted our daughter to celebrate birthdays. So she was prepared to leave when I told her about the 607 thing.
I'm sure that's not always the case.
