This is not a goodbye. I was just wondering if it’s necessary to leave the board for some. I mean, after a period of time is it possible that some feel the need to quit posting so that they feel like a normal member of society. Not just an Ex JW. Can one ever feel like a normal person after being a JW? What is normal? Does this make sense to anyone?

a little background is that i stopped going to the meetings 7 months ago.

my husband is and has been inactive for many years but still feels that even though there are many things wrong with the org.. that they are the true religion.. ok, so what was my reaction when my husband came out of our room and asked: .

"what is this crisis of conscience book ?

Babette's Feast

interesting movie that culminates with babette cooking a sumptuous meal for a group of devout christians who feel guilty about enjoying anything because of the sinful nature of enjoyment and their fear that enjoyment of life now will diminish their eternal reward so they vow to each other not to show any signs that they are enjoying the meal.. i saw it the other night and it always reminds me of the witnesses i knew back in the 60s.

i've made a few friends here on this forum in the year i have been posting, but it saddens me to hear that one of them is being treated as if they are a troll.. yes, i know, there are a few trolls that frequent this forum but we can't treat all newcomers as such.

they come here for help and by our treating them as trolls.

we are actually making them feel shunned.. please give people the benefit of the doubt and treat them as the human being they are.

We should be careful to not acuse anyone of being a Troll until we have evidence that proves it. All it takes is a little patience. Trolls will inevitalbly get caught in their own lies. We should run with our feelings and start accusing someone just because their story sounds suspicious or just because they aren't aware of the proper netiquette.

Saved by grace or not, Selling books or not, disfellowshipping or not, they are a religion that is different than others but they still adhere closely to the bible. They interpret it differently but so does every other religion that believes that the bible is the word of god.

Are there other Christian religions that hurt their members? Yes. Every one of them do it to a certain extent. Pressure to donate funds. Pressure to "hate" wrongdoers. Pressure to "love" others solely on the basis that they are Christian. Covering over the wrongdoing of "elite" members of the church. Protecting molesters through polocies that make people report to the church first. If you think that the JWs are the only ones who do this, you really need to do some more research. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Anyone who follows a groups teachings based on stories thousands of years old is taking their life and putting it in someone elses hands. IMHO.

he was divorced and disfellowshipped within the last eight years or so.

Don't know Troy Davis but I did know Kim. Her first husband was an usher at our wedding. Sorry but I didn't even know that she remarried. I'll ask a couple of questions and see what the local gossip mill can turn up.

By the way, your husband knows my cousin Mike Pel., right? His mother Kathy (my aunt) has just left the Jws and has separated from her husband of 44 yrs. She wants to get together with me and discuss some doctrinal issues. Cool, Huh?

You are going to base you definition on semantics. Come on. They are just as christian as the Catholics and Babtists. They are a christian CULT but they do try to follow Christ. No one can completly follow Christ because no one knows exactly what he did.
