And it is opposite the Zoo, where you'll get a lot more sense out of the animals there than on the platform at the assembly hall!

Today's WT Paragraph 4
by Slidin Fast ini thought that this little gem deserved a thread of it's own.. 4. why is it important for us to be present at the memorial if at all possible?.
4 reflect on the importance of attending the memorial.
remember, congregation meetings are part of our worship.

Sci-fi conventions are far more important and unifying. Plus, even Star Wars and Star Trek fans are welcome and can turn up in their respective gear and both are accepted. Each can talk openly about their respective preferences.
Try doing THAT at a Memorial: Share why you prefer your way of worshipping God or Jesus in a Q&A discussion!
Sci-fi conventions for the win, then!

A JW apologist called Bob (your typical apostate hater) on JWtalk had this to say:
I was reflecting on the talk for this month. Trust. Who should I trust? Well, what has the media done for me? What effort have they put forth to teach me about God? What money have they spent in educating me about the Bible, Bible prophecies, God's requirements, what the future holds? All they have done is served as a conduit for our opposers, while hardly ever checking facts, because they want a juicy story.
On the other hand, while the Slave is not prefect, they have spared no expense in education us about God, the Bible, God's future for us, and his requirements, all while not charging me a single dime.
So why should I trust people who haven't done anything to teach me about God or the Bible, over those who dedicated their lives to helping me learn about God and providing the means to do it?
What twisted reasoning! Erm the media aren’t a religious organisation so why would they make an effort to teach you religious stuff. Typical JW who lives in a bubble with no education and cries out “lies” to any JW criticism!
Of course “the Slave” have spared no expense. They use all the money fleeced from their deluded followers!

Oh Boy! Beards are "stumbling blocks" again ... from Stephen Lett
by freddo inso this week's midweek meeting video about stumbling others has lett spouting and gurning rubbish again.. if you can't take the whole 9 minutes go from 5:50 to get the context and 6:45 for the "beard" mention.. https://youtu.be/ezv1ici5cwo.
oh, well - at least they shoot themselves in the foot with this doublespeak.

Also it shows that the GB really don’t give a damn about the “flock” otherwise they would state outright on their website that there is nothing Biblically wrong with beards and having one doesn’t make you less of a Christian.
They just want to stick to their stuck-in-the-1950s attitudes and expose their conscience o everyone else.

The earthly resurrection pipe dream
by Sour Grapes ini woke up this morning thinking about when my mom died about 10 years ago.
she was an avid jdub and was confident that she would be resurrected to an earthly paradise petting zoo.
if i would today go to my mom's house and because god brought her back to life, saw her sitting in her favorite chair, would she really be my mom?

@No-Zombie
Sam Bell in the movie MOON
I thought MOON was great. I was expecting the station AI to be the baddie like HAL in 2011.

Absolutely ridiculous. However, I pointed out that he mentioned three things and you can't just pick one (like most elders do with beards) and leave the other two. That being the case, how many JWs do you know that have stopped drinking or wearing makeup because it "stumbles" others? NO-ONE! So why single out beards?
Stupid American JW culture that forces their opinion on everyone else. The very first item in this week's meeting said that the Greek word for "to stumble" means to "fall into sin" so if a JW says that a brother wearing a beard stumbles them then:
1) They are accusing that brother of sinning by making them stumble, and
2) They themselves are admitting to sinning by being stumbled.
The word "stumble" is mostly misused instead of the words "don't like" by uber-JWs. They really mean that they DON'T LIKE beards, not that beards MAKE THEM STUMBLE. If they really were stumbled, then why are they still loyal JWs and attending meetings?????
Lett's talk is just so ridiculous. "Your right to wear a beard"? It's not clothing you stupid man. That's as idiotic as saying "your right to grow your hair" or "your right to go to the toilet"! If it stumbles my brother then I guess I'll just have to be constipated!!!

CO working at Walmart
by the girl next door init just took me by surprise.
i remember him from a decade or so ago.
he came up with gems like, “weddings are for women, they are not necessary.” also, “if you want to be truly happy, marry an ugly woman.”.
-
AverageJoe1
Sounds like he was a Kid Creole fan:
If you want to be happy for the rest of your life
Never make a pretty woman your wife
So for my personal point of view
Get an ugly girl to marry you -

You Just Can't Make This S--t Up!
by FedUpJW ini know this is kind of trivial but i don’t want to partake in something that might have connections with something that jehovah disapproves of.
i checked the watchtower library and i didn’t find anything on gingerbread man cookies.. .
good lord...how incredibly stupid and helpless are jdubs getting?

@FedupJW
It's my understanding that Americans in general (not just JWs) view “hell” and “damn” as swear words, whereas in the UK we don’t. Any Americans on here care to either confirm or deny?

Marriage Proposal in the Kingdom Hall
by Listener injust when you think you've seen it all comes another interesting use of a kingdom hall.a young man serenades his girlfriend with a song (possibly a watchtower song) from the stage through a microphone and backed by recorded music.
then he steps off the stage and gets down on one knee and proposes as he pulls out a ring from his coat pocket.
the large projector screen flashes up behind them with a picture of a sapphire and diamond ring.cameras capture the joyous moment as she accepts and they lock together in a loving hug.
