Englishman,
Speaking of anti-Royalists, and/or a possible answer to your question about how long is Mel Gibson going to play parts where he's being persecuted by the British ...
Have you forgotten Mad Max Mel's first major role?: The one where he played a young Australian soldier doing his bit for "Crown and Country" on the slaughterhouse shores of Gallipoli in Turkey in the Ist World War? Maybe his penchant for Pommy bashing goes back to those days. For I, too, can understand Mel's motivation so well, as being proudly Australian myself - even if Mel was born in New York and grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney - I was closer to Bondi myself - but wouldn't you be feeling bitter, Englishman, even revengeful, when you think of all the young Australian men who went to their death in a War which really had nothing to do with them - or us - on the other side of the planet? Long live the Repulic, from this anti-Royalist - in Australia - who agrees with Farkel about the Queen's worth. But hey, after the success of the Queen's Jubilee, where there is cash. there is still hope. And anyway, as I'm always the little gentleman, and good sport, QE 2's half century of hardworking, faithful service should be admired by everybody, Royal or not. The surviving prosperity of the Monarchy - in England - may just become fashionably Retro even yet. Cheers.
