  I am no longer a Ministerial Servant

  yesterday was announced that i was not longer a ministerial servant.

  to be honest i felt really good about it.

  i literally was tired of been pretending.

  Hello, Cocolocoii & Scott,

  Enjoyed both of your experiences about being ex Mini Servants. I was one myself till I deleted myself from the position, the congregation and the Watchtower Society some 14 months ago.

  It feels very liberating to be able to reinvent yourself when you are still young enough to do it.

  TO Scott: From another 'newbie' here, welcome aboard. We are the same age and share the same length of years in the trooth. Tell me, was it your modesty that precluded you from posting your expierence as an original post? Or are you just a little green to know how?

  (Anyway, thanks again, but don't ask me for help. All I know what to do here is type in the words and drop the odd icon in now and then.)

  No Invalid Baptisms

  from what i gather at the service dept., there is no such thing as.

  an invalid baptism.

  they defined it out of existence.

  You would think that to all 'true Christians' the annulling of his/her baptism would be morally reprehensible, scripturally abominable, and legally impossible, seeing that a public dedication of one's faith is supposed to be a personal bond or contract made between an individual and Jehovah God.

  But since the questions to be answered in the affirmative by all candidates for JW baptism were ammended some years ago to add a dedication to the ORGANISATION itself, as well as GOD, therefore, annulling of a Jehovah's Witness baptism is presently understandable, fully acceptable and legally admissable...to the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society.

  (I should have been a QC, damnit, and not a pioneer.)

  "I'm embarrassed and ashamed that I ever believed something so ridiculous." My sentiments exactly p o' thorns.

  My favourite "the angels are with us" quip at meetings for field service always happened when we had an uneven number out and the odd brother/sister left over would self-rightouesly volunteer to work not alone, but "with the angels."

  Hey, if I pray real hard before I got to bed tonight, do you think the angels will let me know which horse is going to win the Golden Slipper Stakes in a couple of weeks time?

  H20 Thinks Biggest Is Best.

  when i first posted on this site, there were, i think, around 300 registered users.

  now the number of registered users is about to reach 1000 in the very near future.

  over on h20 the numbers have decreased, but the community owner, rick, appears to be mesmerised by the idea that it is still much bigger, and biggest is best, as this excerpt from a recent post shows:.

  I already like this site - a lot.

  I like the fact that a lot of the long-time users here still want to retain the coffee shop/across-the-hall chat atmosphere which prevails.

  I also sincerely hope that some of the excellent spiritual debaters I enjoyed so much from H 20 keep their pencils sharpened and their personal attacks to themselves. Like a lot of others, I would like to see ill-mannered insults and lewd cracks relegated to personal email communication between the combatants. As Billy Joel used to sing, 'Go ahead with your own life, but leave me (us) alone'. And/or 'You can speak your mind, but not on my (our) time'.

  Regarding size, and H20 Rick's apparent longing for it, in comparison to JW Discussion, I am reminded of that classic Volkswagen 'Beetle' press advertisement from the Doyle Dane Bernbach halycon days of the 1960's. Their ad agency, DDB, used to run this full in The New York Times with just a photograph of their cute, trustworthy but enigmatic little car. The copywriter only need two classic words to make his/her headline. They were: 'Think Big'.

  imho, there is no ad hominem worse, no ad hominem more denigrating, and no ad hominem more evil than the expression "get a life!".

  i've used it myself in the past.

  it's a quick and down-and-dirty put down.

  'Get a Life!' to me has become so over-used it is now not only a banal three word put-down, it usually demonstrates the user's lack of vocabulary skills when it comes to lashing out or throwing a quick verbal right hook at someone who deserves it. (Of course, "H20 thugs" - whoops, but I do so love that description of some of 'us' newbie FPP absconders - would never resort to using such tittle tattle schoolyard diatribes, now would we?

  Personally, I've always liked the term 'Get a Life!' as long as the user can back it up with a suggestion on how that life can indeed be attained or improved. But then, some of us can have that term applied to us more literally. Does the fact that I very rarely leave my own house these days - usually only to go grocery shopping - mean that I need to 'Get a Life!' I'm basically quite content with my anti-social reclusion. Or maybe somebody out there would now be suggesting I 'Get a Wife!'

  Oh, who knows. And who really cares? For if I do get too tired of living, I know all I'll need to do then is ... 'Get a Knife!'

  Like many others, I lurk a lot more than I post. But as a lot of your replies thus far have listed benefits from just being involved with a JW Forum like this one, I'll give you my main motive.

  Apart from all the wonderful 'theocratic' criticism, debate and Bible research plus the wit and humour of some of the main players, my number one reason for being here every day is how I get reassured I did the right thing disassociating myself over a year ago.

  I have yet to feel even one tinge of regret.

  i found the terse, typed letter displayed above sitting on my microwave oven when i got home from work a few months ago.

  it was addressed to me from my best friend and brother-in-law of many years.. a couple of days before we got into a discussion over "what was wrong with me.

  " i had recently grown a goatee that he thought was extremely 'unchristian'.

  Considering the fact that you are not formally disassociated, or even disfellowshipped, what sort of 'religion' is the WTBS where its rank and file followers who claim to be your friends - the very kind who are supposed to be willing to die for you - can take it upon themselves to judge you adversely and then cut you off like a man of the nations?

  The way you have been treated, rem, is surely the very antitheseis of Jesus' teachings about showing love and is insulting to a true Christian's expected code of moral conduct.

  like amazing, i, too, just saw farkel's h 20 post about the plusses of this forum and have decided to move camp or switch horses in mid-stream.

  there is only room for one jw forum in my life, and after scanning the list of familiarly warm and fuzzy names here today, i feel like i've come home.. thank you again to farkel, surely, our own marquis de sade of anti-watchtower words.
