Here's a crazy thought
by JBean inin reading recent threads from scumgrief and yoyo... they are happy and active and are defending the organization.
i just had a thought of what jesus said that in coming to him and the truth, one might lose brothers or sisters or mothers, etc., but in doing so, they would gain him and an abundance of other "family".

True JBean, my roommate is a prime example. When he came to Christ he was basically rejected by his family. His mother will call him occasionally but he is not allowed to mention the name Jesus or she will hang up or go off on him. I lost a ton of friends when I got saved. The JW's have no idea what the Bible means when it says to follow Jesus. How are you losing family and friends? Only if you leave, as you pointed out.

Undecided, there is no need to make a hasty generalization. It's like saying, yes I heard that so and so got sick after eating at 'Jimmy's ' restaurant so that must mean they serve rotten food. Jesus sais that there would be tares among the wheat. There are a lot of dead churches, a lot of them. If you look earnestly you will find a church that fits just right. Don't let a couple of incidents discourage you. Jesus said 'Follow me' not 'Follow those who claim to follow me'.

where can one find faith?
by conflicted inin an earlier post larsguy said the bible wasn't written for the layperson, but only for serious scholars and followers of christ.. .
...you imagine the bible is supposed to be a nice easy book without complexities to confound people, when in fact, if you actually read the bible you'd know that is precisely the case.. the bible is meant for christ and his followers specifically and not for outsiders!.
didn't you read in scripture when the disciples asked jesus why he spoke in parables that he told them that these secrets were for them and so that the outsiders, looking in vain, would not understand?.

Hello Conflicted, I would like to tell you my personal experience about the Bible and God and perhaps you can draw something from it. I tried reading the Bible in the past and none of it ever made ANY sense to me. I shelved it and lived my life as a drunked pagan for many years. I dug myself a hole of sin and was unable to pull myself out, so I cried out to God to save me. Once I put my trust in Jesus Christ as my Savior, the Bible made total sense to me. It was as if scales were on my eyes before and now they have been lifted and I understand it fully. I quit my job at the time because it was getting in the way of my relationship with God (I was working 12+ hrs a day). I stayed home and read the Bible for like 8 hours a day. I couldn't stop. It was like I was starving to death and this book, the Bible, was my only food. What happened was, I was dead in my tresspasses and sins and reading a book that was written by God made no sense to me in that state. BUT, when I gave my life to Christ, the Holy Spirit of God came to dwell with me and opened up the scriptures to me. It was like a light went on and I couldnt believe that before it had made no sense and now I was drinking it in for hours a day. Nothing else interested me. I became born again. My first birth was through the womb and my second one was from heaven.
And I am now free!!Woohoo!!

Accuracy- Gregs conclusion was that the word we translate 'True' could also mean genuine. That doesn't help you much. If you have only one genuine Mona Lisa, then all the rest are ingenuine, or not genuine or false. It is a very thin hedge the JW's try to hide behind and I think it is just as the apostle Paul says 'They twist the scritpures to their own destruction'. You do not get your theology from the scritpures but rather from the WT, then go to the scriptiures and butcher them to make them say what you want. Again I will ask, if the Bible says that Jehovah is called the ONLY GENUINE GOD, then please supply me with an example of something being the ONLY GENUINE______ and everything else not being false or not genuine.

Accuracy, if the Bible said that Moses' tabernacle was the *only* true one than yes we would have a problem. Jehovah is called the ONLY TRUE GOD. PLease supply me with an example of something being the ONLY TRUE______ and everything else not being false.

and only ruins those who listen.and also
1 Tim 6:4 says- he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about *words* that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil...
The guest representing the Dub's was Greg Stafford, the man who has written the book 'Defending the Jehovah's Witnesses'. Our goal was to get the JW's to admit that using John 17:3 where Jesus says the Father is the 'only true God' meant that Jesus being 'a god' in their NWT made them polytheists, or, having to say that Jesus is a false god. The discussion started by Greg saying that they believed Jesus was not God in an ontological sense, but rather that he held attributes that made him like God, or as a god. I knew right away that the discussion would be a battle over semantics, since that is all that the JW's are left with to make their teachings fit scripture. Clay, the host, went on to reveal the obvious, that if Jehovah is the only true God, then by definition all others gods must be false. Long story short, Greg pulled a trick that Clinton used during the Monica Lewinsky trials and put emphasis on what the word 'true' really means. Clay quoted the definition from Websters dictionary which states 'Consistent with fact or reality; not false or erroneous'. Greg went on to say that English was irrelevant and we all kind of rolled our eyes after that. The rest of the debate was spent asking Greg to give an example of anything that was 'the only true' blank that did not make everything else it that category false. The conversation continued with babblings about Greek and how there are different definitions for the word true, like you can just pick what fits you best. (Hmm, let me take definition 3b from this word and 2a from that word, etc) For those who listened I would like to hear your views, and if you didn't hear it, we are going to play clips next week and discuss what went on. Although the men were very polite, and dressed to kill, they are so badly decieved and I cry out to God in my heart for their souls.

KPRZ = Spanish
by DazedAndConfused ini don't remember which thread stated that some people from the wtbts was going to be on kprz tomorrow/today, but i went through downloading special things i needed to be able to hear and what i am hearing is spanish.
while spanish is a very beautiful language, i still cannot understand it.
if someone listens to this program and can make up a transcript (possibly tapings and transcribing) it would be great.
