one thing that has always kinda ticked me off with the society depiction of paradise, is the completely bland, devoid of personality, stepford wives-ish look given to paradise pics in the publications over the years.
peeps walkin' around smilin' for no reason, no attention given to a cultivation of technology, the arts, space exploration.
there never seemed to be any point to paradise.

i need to put my two cents in about this even though i'm reading it a couple days after the last post.. when i think of the death of those i care about i usually have no problem picturing them going to heaven forever: some people just to me seem like there is nowhere else they could be.
those who i've been close to that have died that i'm questionable about them actually going to heaven i feel like in some way as long as there are those of us here to remember them they are still kept alive somehow.
when i really think about my own death i have a panic attack.
Julie, would you say that people are moving further from enlightenment in view of the continual moral decline we see in society?
Buddha said- Same thing today, will we all suffer eternal torment in hell or death after the rapture just because "Jesus" said so.
People go to hell because of their behavior, not because Jesus said so. Jesus came to save- John 3:17

Derek Said - It was inherently wrong, regardless of what your gods may think
Hmm, Derek I am not trying to be argumentative but......says who?!
Is right and wrong just part of an evolutionary process? Does a lion wonder if it is wrong to pounce on a gazelle? Do we have a sense of justice that we are born with? And if that is the case then there are moral laws, hence a moral law giver (I know Farkel, slippery slope, but I'm doing it anyway!)

Derek said --Pretty much sums up my view too. Whether or not there is a god has no bearing on what is right or wrong.
Hmm, how do we know what's right and wrong? Was the world Trade Center tragedy somethig that was wrong? If so, why?

::Wrong. An argument has to have assertions and a conclusion. I made no conclusion. Instead, I said:
: I have no conclusions to offer, because it may not even be possible to make an informed conclusion based upon the evidence available.
Fair enough! Hey, I noticed from another post that you live in San Diego. Me too. Where are you at?!

Farkel, thanks for the interesting reply, although I'm not buying it! You also have commited a logical fallacy. First of all, argumentum ad ignorantium. You based your argument on something that is not provable. I cannot prove that the soldiers didn't believe in God, therefore the murders were not done in the name of atheism. You are also borderlining the slippery slope fallacy. Isn't it fair to claim that the actions made by a leader reflect his world view? If a man kills millions of people to create his idealistic society, namely one without belief in God, does that not qualify?

Brig- What do you think about the guys that crashed into the WTC? What instruments were they playing? Were they misled into false religion?

Quote-It isn't atheists and humanists that have caused the atrocities down thru history.
Hmm, why don't you go pick up a Guiness Book of World Records and look up mass murder.
Lenin, Stalin and Mao Tse Tung have killed 100 million + people, all with the belief that there is no God! Talk about an unholy Trinity.

well, the other night i had invited a young man to my house to share with him, respectfully, the false prophecies of the wt, using older wt books.
the conversation started very nicely, with the usual small talk and such.
i decided to ask some questions, that i knew the answers to, but just wanted to get the gears in his head turning.

I spent my life exploring! I toured with the Grateful Dead for like 10 years and tried eveything there is under the sun. Jesus freed me from sin and I NEVER want to go back. I have a hard time when people say they were born again but then left it. That's like having the option to eat at a banquet but diggin through the dumpster instead. I have tasted eternity and I would never go back!!

Hey Tina. Well, ever since I got saved 4 years ago God has given me a love for truth, especially Biblical truth. I have had many encounters with JW's and have always just felt so badly for them, being so misled by an organization that is leading them away from Jesus Christ. My desire to reach out to them comes from something deeper than just 'I' could generate, ever! I feel God has put this burden there, because everytime I share with one of them I always vow it to be my last time. And then there is that burden again. Is this a personal ministry? I guess so, although I am seeking other like minded people to help out.
