It seems to me that religion is based on emotions. Women are more emotional than the average man, so more women are taken in by religions apeal to emotions. Just my view.

it is generally acknowledged, and confirmed by experience, that there is a significant gender imbalance in the organisation.. there are considerably more sisters than there are brothers.
that's great for the brothers, because a lot of the poor jw lasses get so desperate that even the most dorky of brothers can take his pick.. but why is there this imbalance?.
it's true that birth rates show slightly more females being born than males (mother nature's way of safeguarding the future?

Hi Anyone,
Back in the sixties I was into photography. I took pictures at several weddings. Some were in churches. I was an elder at the time, I wonder what the society would have thought of this at the time?
I must not have been a regular stick in the mud elder, as I had several friends who were not JWs.
Anyway I enjoyed my photography, even developed and printed my own pictures. I still have the equiptment in the attic, maybe I should get it out and play again, since I'm retired.

risking the flames of the ignorant, let me suggest some reading for all you awakening humans who i have come to love:.
do a search on john edward, he has a site but i am not sure if it is johnedward.com or .org, and he is also on the sci-fi channel(cable tv in usa) and has a site on their page too.
i recommend getting one of his books and watching his show.
Hi Ravyn,
I'm sorry about your illness. Hope you get better. I don't know anything about your gift of knowing things that seem impossible. I will reserve my comments until I learn more about such things. The older I get the more I realize I don't know much at all for sure. I guess anything may be possible, since there is so much we can't know except by your own expierence. I guess this includes the fundie type of thinking. So much of it seems to be in our own minds, which can be deceiving. See why my screen name is Undecided?

big boys don't cry!
well that's what we are told anyway!
and i guess this convention is widespread in many cultures.
Hi All,
I have developed a tendency to cry lately. I don't boho but will get teary eyed at little things, usually concerning kids. I can think of something happening to my kids and it will make me get teary eyed. My grand daughter was in a car ahead of us at a traffic light, she blew us a kiss and it made me cry. I can see a movie about kids having to leave a parent or something similar and I will cry.
I have no idea why I started this, but maybe because my youngest daughter got married and left home about a year ago. We are very close, and I miss her so much, maybe this is the reason as I am about to shed a few tears just thinking of her now. She should be by here in a few minutes, I will give her a big hug, that should make me feel better.
I don't cry freely in front of others, I can control it somewhat, I guess it is a man thing.

we hopefully all agree it is wrong to reject an entire race because we have found one of its member to be flawed, or to reject an entire concept an the basis of finding a flaw in its argument.
would not fair people look for a way to accept the good in the concept, modify the flawed portion and rejoice in what was gained from the refined concept?
it would also be wrong, as the wt does, to reject an entire institution because some of its precepts are flawed.
Hi J2,
I think all religions are flawed who try to use the bible for truth. The bible is flawed, due to the fact it can't be understood consistently by any group of Christians. To accept what it says without some explaination to cover the inconsistances, you would be continually contradicting yourself. God is totally a different character in the Hebrew scriptures than as protrayed by Christ. When a bible writer says soon, how do you understand it, as years, decades, centures, millenniums or what?(Just one example)
I think we must use our own imagination as to what God is really up to.
That's my two cents worth.(And that's about what it's worth)

i was thinking about the post about japan closing about 300 congregations in the past 3 years.
i know that the hall i occasionally go to is usually less than half full compared to a few years ago.
my mom says that the elders in her hall are trying to come up with ways to get more to attend as attendance is really bad.
Hi All,
I haven't been to a meeting in many years, I think I will go and see what's up. Maybe I should just ask one of the elders and save myself from the questions I would get from the oldtimers.
Ken P.
now and again it's good for the heart and mind to take a break and have a good laugh, so here you go....( i found this on a web site).
ciao.

I have been having the same problem. I can exit the post and open it again and it helps, also scrool past the end and go back up and it clears sometimes??????

since jesus is called the "wisdom of god" (1 cor.
micah 5:2 refers to jesus the same way psa.
he can not be the father, since he prayed to the father in jn.
Hi there,
Please, could you show me one thing that Christ said would happen that could be shown to be true and a result of his or God's actions?
All I see is speculation or some emotioinal feeling about his giving you salvation. I have never seen a prayer answered that couldn't be described as coincidence or part of every day happenstance.
What proof other than faith can you give of any of Christ promises? Is God really interested in us humans at all, if so give evidence.
I really need something to base faith on, not just an inward feeling that so many have, who disagree on the meaning of scripture and have to establish so many different religious institutions to satisfy the whims of the membership.
Has religion really brought love to the earth, or conflict? I see the same traits in animals that humans seem to follow. What does spirituality do for humans? Atheist seem to be have as much feeling for others as christians. Just my feelings right now.

Ken P.
this is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.
we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.
we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.
HI Anointed,
Is this religion going to be spirit directed or inspired? If it's spirit directed, would Brandy or Rum be acceptable? If it's inspired will 2/3 inspired and 1/3 not inspired be ok?

Lurker,
What is your purpose for posting these unfeeling post? Don't you understand how he feels about what happened? I'm sure his heart is breaking because of what happened, but sometimes things happen that we don't intend to be caught up in and circumstances just don't give us a way out. Haven't you ever done anything that if given the opportunity you would change, but at the time it was the only way you could handle the situation? Why do you keep bringing it up? Where is your feeling for others?
I don't see anything humorous about your remarks and I think it says alot about your character.
