Hi Englishman,
It's funny how terms mean different things to different cultures. Sweet means having a good disposition, kind and loving. She seems to display that in her smile. One of my friends here married an english lady, but she died a few years ago and he is broken harted. He lived there for a while, I don't know the city though. He liked it over there, especially the pubs.

i was thinking about the responsibility that christianity puts on believers to convert others.
does god hold his worshipers responsibile to get other worshipers, especially when this brings persecution and death in many instances?
doesn't god consider his worshipers worth a little help in this world?
Thanks IW,
That's just about the way I see it right now, but I also like the day sky as well. A beautiful day with my family makes life a blessing.

Hi All,
I was thinking about the responsibility that Christianity puts on believers to convert others. Does God hold his worshipers responsibile to get other worshipers, especially when this brings persecution and death in many instances? Doesn't God consider his worshipers worth a little help in this world? Like one bible writer said, he could make the stones cry out. If he can, why doesn't He? It would work so much better than a Watchtower or Awake. It would convince me. But no, we have to search out all the conflicting fluff and try to come up with "TRUTH", then, when we think we have found it, it turns out to be more fluff.
I'm tired of all the different crap I have seen purported to be absolute "TRUTH". You have to listen to your own conscience, but many times it has been trained by others to the point that it really isn't your own. Where do you go from here? I guess I will continue to think of God as something out there, but I damn sure don't know where.

business territory in the 1960s and 1970s: when i was first associated in the late 1960s, it was common to see jws roaming the streets of downtown districts, offering the magazines.
sometime in the early 1970s, after i had been a jw for a few years, we worked businesses directly.
this was especially true when certain events were newsworthy - such as the persecution of jehovah's witnesses in malawi.
Hi Amazing,
Back in the 40s, at the assemblies we were sandwiched between two large signs that advertised the assembly talk for Sunday. We were just kids and stood on the street with the WT. and Awake or Consolation, I forget which it was then. I hated it.

although we as humans have come to a better understanding of many things there are still enough problems to keep many minds occupied.. we think we have a good idea of how this universe is structured how it grew and got complex , with even explanations of how life forms arose.. but there are still things that puzzle me.. what is consciousness?.
there is no proper understanding of consciousness and how it works.. how can a combination of atoms in a certain configuration give rise to a tangible feeling of existence?.
what is time?.
Hi Sleepy,
Your question,"What is consciousness?" has puzzled me for some time now. Also the question of what determines a persons character in this consciousness. If a chemical imbalance occures we can become violent and if someone whacks us on the head we lose consciousness, so it seems it's just a physical result of our brain working with the electro/chemical reactions of nature. Animals also have a state of consciousness, but how much they understand is unknown, and depends somewhat on the size of their brain. Questions but no real provable answers.
