  Hi dHook,

  I have been looking for some evidence of God in any religion. All the scriptures that have been used to prove Jesus is at the door has proven to be misapplied. Why should I expect any better performance in the future?

  I see no real evidence that the Holy Spirit(holy spirit, depending on how you view it) has done anything that I can verify at all. Most churches, religions, or whatever you might call God's people are like all others, with the same failings and faults, even though many have covered them over very well in the past. The good principles practiced by some are also practiced by those who don't beleive in God. The bible has some good ideas of how to live decently, but this is not exclusive to the bible.

  I will just live my life as I see fit and let others do the same, as long as they don't cause harm to me or my family. I'm tired of trying to figure out God.

  hi rev b: you stated on my other thread that belief in the trinity is necessary for salvation in christendom.

  not so.. i can go into almost any church and say that i am christian, believe in jesus christ as my personal savior, and will be accepted as such, without any comment or need to discuss the trinity.

  i can even say that i don't accept the trinity, or literal hellfire, etc., and will still be accepted.. where the difference is, if i try to join that specific church as an official member with voting rights on church business, or hold an office of deacon, elder, or pastor, then a christian church will often require acceptance of the trinity for membership ... but not for salvation.

  Hi Guest,

  First give us some proof there is a God to worship, except some vague feelings in the pit of our stomach.

  You say the flesh is sinful, who made our flesh? Don't animals suffer the same effects of sin as humans? What sin did they committ?

  Are you the only one who has God's favor?

  Just some more of my questions.

  Hi All,

  A little off subject but what about a woman being able to create life(with the help of a man's sperm). Strictly from a religious view, shouldn't she get pregnant as often as possible to provide another life for God to save that would live forever in happiness and bliss?
  Who would this person give thanks to for his life, the woman or God? If she hadn't had sex, this person would never have come into existence and all the religions preaching and saving of God wouldn't have been possible. What was most important, sex or God's saving???

  i was heading for town and got my first speeding ticket in 26 years.

  Hi All,

  You're probably not interested but I'm going to post it anyway. I was heading for town and got my first speeding ticket in 26 years. Going 51 in a 35 zone. My old 4WD GMC's speedometer is on the blink and I wasn't paying much attention to my speed, when behind a row of cars meeting me was a city cop. I saw his light go on and he turned around immediately, Oh shit, I knew what was comming. One hundred and forty dollars down the drain.

  Now if I go to a class at college on safe driving, I won't get any points on my insurance or driver's license. I've been driving for fifty years and haven't dented a fender, and now I have to learn how to drive safe. Maybe I can teach the class. I know almost all the cops, and with my luck I got stuck with one I didn't know. Oh, well, some days are like this.

  Now I feel better,

  Hi All,

  It seems strange to me that in 1935 the full number of the 144,000 were supposed to be filled, and the ones from that time were other sheep who didn't have a heavenly anointing. There were only to be replacements for the unfaithful. If that were true how could the number increase??

  Past my prime and now I'm tired

  ok, so i became a jw when i was in my mid 20's.

  i was in my prime.. i was so busy being a witness, taking in the truth, pioneering bla bla bla that i feel like i've missed out on life totally.

  now i'm pushing 40 and i'm tired.

  Hi Jo,

  You are now in your prime years, pushing 40 is a great time to start enjoying your life. I know what you are going through, I left the JW life at that age for the same reason, I felt smothered with so many responsibilities that I just left. This was in 1973 and I remember saying to myself, to have a couple of years for myself before the end in 1975 it would be worth leaving.

  I got married again, fathered a kid and have never regretted it, not one time since. Iv'e had a great life. Do what YOUR heart leads you to do and never look back. I wouldn't trade all those years in the Borg. for one day with my family now, of course I may have been lucky and it could have been a tragic mistake with bad luck, but that is my experience.

  do people in their existance create much more greif inadvertantly that they cause happiness with purpose?

  an action that can seem so small to one person or a desision made with selfish intent can have effects without the action taker or desicion maker even considering or realising it.

  selfishness or self absorbation; we focus so much on us that the reprocusions of every little thing we do become inconsequential as long as we or those we care about are 'safe'.. when i was little in the car i would make up stories about people we drove past based on that split second they passed through my life.

  Hi Cygnus,

  I think you have a point here. When you help someone it usually makes you feel better about yourself, if it didn't you probably wouldn't volunteer to help. We usually don't like self condemnation.

  This week I helped two strangers, one I helped to start his truck at Lowes parking lot, I saw his hood up and heard his battery was low, so I went back to my truck and drove to where he was and used my cables to kick-start his truck. He didn't ask, I didn't know him, I just felt good being able to help. So I did it because it made me feel good to help.

  I picked up a stranger and gave him a ride. I don't do this usually, but I felt like it when I saw his face. It gave me pleasure to help him out. I didn't help because I thought God required me to do it. I did it because I wanted to and I enjoyed it. So I think your view may be right on.

  Hi,

  When I was PO I had only a couple of committee meetings. One resulted in a DF for adultery the other was a sister who's husband(non JW) had used a light bulb for a sex toy and it broke and she went to the hospital to remove the broken glass. I guess she was confessing, I considered it her private business how she had sex with her husband and we just gave her our sympothy for the accident. No more was said about it. This was back in the 60s.
