i was at mcdonalds the other morning and i walked up to the counter beside my brother.
the girl was having trouble getting the cash register open and had called the manager over.. my brother's amount of purchase was $1.05.
the change was $.95.
Hi Wendy,
You should be here in NC now. The weather has been sooo beautiful in Nov. and now Dec. It's 72 degrees today in a cloudless sky. I don't think the winter is comming this year. Every day has been this way lately. My back yard swing is getting worn out by me and my friends.
Good to hear from you.

Hi All,
I was at McDonalds the other morning and I walked up to the counter beside my brother. The girl was having trouble getting the cash register open and had called the manager over.
My brother's amount of purchase was $1.05. He didn't have any change so he gave her $2.00. The change was $.95. She gave him a nickle. He said you keep the nickle and I get the $.95. That's how the cash registry got closed. Anyway the manager thought my brother had given her only a dollar and he wanted another dollar. My brother said,"Why would anyone lie for a dollar?" The manager said people make mistakes though.(Implying my brother had made the mistake) My brother said,"I know, and I forgive you." If you could have seen the expression on the managers face, I had to turn away, it was so funny.

imagine that chance was offered to you .is it something you still desire?.
i wonder how desriable it would be to live forever.what problems it would bring.would we want to stay married to the same person, would we get to know everyone on earth?.
how would it effect our attitude toward life , would we get anything done knowing there was no rush?.
Good question,
I'm probably the oldest poster here, 66 in two months, and I can see that life is going to lose it's luster for me pretty soon. I can feel old age in my bones, when I walk up steps, jump a few feet off the porch or crawl around in the attic. I know in a very few years life will be over, at least the enjoyable part and I hope I die without too much trouble for my family. If I could stay young I would enjoy living forever, but who would know for sure. I will just go on the best I can and see what happens.

why i began thinking on prayer was the request from my spanish neighbour to my wife.
they requested that she come down and pray for his/her child who has been sick.
my wife believes in prayer and says she knows it works.
Hi All,
Thanks for the replies, I enjoyed them all.
I don't try to kill my wife's faith, but sometimes I do express my skepticism to all the religious bunk that I hear. I went with her to church for about a year and now she has stopped attending, too much turmoil there, human failings like all faiths experience.
I haven't given up on there being a God or some being that may be responsible for the material things, but I really don't have the slightest idea what he may be like. I talk to it(him) in my mind ocassionally, but don't really pray. Like Metatron, I suspect there may be some force that we don't understand that may be present in some people's mind, but I haven't experienced it myself. Untill I do or see some proof I will remain a skeptic.

Hi All,
Why I began thinking on prayer was the request from my spanish neighbour to my wife. They requested that she come down and pray for his/her child who has been sick. My wife believes in prayer and says she knows it works. I have some serious doubts about this.
She gave an example of my oldest daughter who was to go to the doctor to have a lump removed from her breast. My wife prayed and when she went, there was no lump there anymore. I have a problem with this because my youngest daughter had the same problem, but it was still there and she had it removed. If prayer was the factor that removed the grouth for my oldest daughter, why didn't it work on my youngest daughter? Prayer seems to work about like normal circumstances would dictate. Some times it works and some times it doesn't.
Another problem I have with prayer being connected with a loving father in heaven is what Jesus said."8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him." Why would a loving father make you grovel to him before he would help if he really loves you?
And what about the advice to pray according to his will, if it is God's will wouldn't it be done anyway?
And the final thought,Jesus said in Mat.21:22 "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." I find this statement false as so many prayers go unanswered to those who believe in prayer.

i was on my way to install a cd-rw for a friend of my wife, who's son is a friend of my grandson.
i invited him to come along with me.
on the way he began to question me about religion.
Hi Andi,
Thanks for the compliment, but I am old enough to be a great grandparent.
I don't like others telling me what I should beleive, so I give my children the opportunity to decide for themselves. I wish I had the knowledge to definitely say what is the true spiritual path to take, but I don't and I don't want to restrict their choice in life. Of course I do give counsel on some moral issues, like drugs, drunkedness, and other issues that can rob your life of happiness.

Hi All,
I was on my way to install a CD-RW for a friend of my wife, who's son is a friend of my grandson. I invited him to come along with me. On the way he began to question me about religion. This put me in a position I wasn't comfortable with. He is a step grandson, so I wasn't quite as free to reveal my true feelings.
His mother and dad are christains, to a degree I guess. They have stopped going to church because of a conflict between her step mother who attends the same church as she previously did. It's kind of complicated so I won't go into details. Same old story of human failings which overshadows christain principles.
Anyway, he asked several questions about religious beliefs and I basically said it was his decision to decide what he wanted to believe. He asked what religion did I beleive in and I said I didn't beleive any of them. I said there were many different ideas of what the truth is, depending on which religion you ask, but you have to decide on what you as an individual think is best for yourself. He seemed to accept that as OK with him.
I can't remember his exact questions, I wish I could but that is the way it goes with my old failing mind.

Hi All,
What they don't realize is, they ARE without Jehovah. What has he done to demonstrate he is there just waiting to give them everlasting life and happiness. A spiritual paradise? Yea right.
He has given them an organization that uses them to distribute literature and tell them what to think and how to act, but never gets anything right, and is forever tacking back and forth. I wonder how they will feel when it finally dies, along with all their hopes and dreams?

hard core storms coming your way harmony, better batton down the hatches!
hope you get through it ok. proceed with caution, eh?.
take care,.
Hi Harmony,
It's 71 degrees here in NC today and we are going to the beach this week end, we won't swim in the ocean though. I have to winterize the camper just in case it gets cold later this winter. Enjoy your snow, we usually have maybe one light snow during the winter. I wish we had more snow but it saves on the heating bill.
