of course general attitude towards firearms in usa is different from europe but so is also legislation.. it is just that once being a concsientious objector i cannot, even after almost 40 years, imagine myself having one.

Do you think they would complain if you owned a sword and carried it around like Peter? He wasn't very good with it if he only cut off an ear. I wonder why Christ didn't instruct them to not carry one around? Well, he did say if you lived by the sword, you would die by the sword, especially if you couldn't use one better than Peter.

Think for a moment, has one single thing any JW leader has ever predicted come true? I can't think of one, and can anyone prove that any of the bible is really from a God who controls the universe? The devil is only in the imagination of religious people. People are really the devil since they do the wicked things that we can see. The mind is controlled by our learned behavior and sometimes by chemical imbalances that cause nonrational behavor, not a devil. No one has the answers to the universe and it's origin or control. Just enjoy your life and do what you know makes life enjoyable without hurting others.

fore the first time i seen that jw admit one very important thing about why they are forced to pay taxes, and why some countrys dont want to give them a position as a religion inn good standard, if you understand what i mean.. on side 15 you can read that new issus are on the tabel, as bloodissu, who to rase your children and the dfd issu.. very intresting to see this, as i say the first time gov body say this, before they have only say it is evel talk and apostats lie.

Hi Farkel,

I lucked out on that one. I got my 4D classification the day before I was to go to be inducted in the Army. I had fought it for a year or so. The FBI came to where I worked and asked my coworkers about me and my claim as a minister. They also asked my neighbors. I sure was releived to get that letter giving me exemption from service. I wouldn't have gone to that war if I hadn't been a JW.

is it true that americans are the least travelled people in the world?

if that is the case, its hardly surprising when you read all the dire warnings contained inside a us passport.

also, i am told that americans regard the rest of the world as a very dangerous place to be.

Hi Englishman,

The US is about as varied as Europe when you travel to the different places here, mountains, plains, deserts, sea shores, forest, rivers, cities(small and large) and different cultures and climates. There is enough to keep me interested right here but I would love to be able to travel to other places. I have the time but not the money. Any rich people like to pay my way???

i know this seems like a dumb subject.. but i often wonder if many of us still believe and feel the need to worship - and not the borg either .

so here is a poll.... what religious orginization - if any - are you affiliated ( this does not mean you had to join it)?.

or - do you feel that everything is wrong due to the borg..and will you ever consider going to an organized religon again??.

Hi lydia,

Not a dumb question at all. For me sometimes I think of a higher being but I just don't know what it might be, or what it is doing now. It would seem to me it would at least make itself known in some tangible way. The bible has spawned so many different ideas that have never materialized that I have no more faith in it at all.

I just try to live a life so as not to hurt others and when I can I help others. I have no religion as such. I don't know what else to do as I have seen no religion that makes any sense to me. Organized religion is a great waste of money in my view. Have you noticed how many church buildings there are? I attended one for a while but didn't believe any of the doctrines, it was just a social thing and I didn't fit in with the group. I don't condemn someone who wants to belong to a church, as long as they don't become some prophet or special agent from God to change the world to their view and way of life and perhaps kill other people to please their God.

I wish I knew the answer to the worlds problems and the sick minded crooks in this world.

Hi Ninj,

I was raised as a JW and I have no bad feelings for the JWs I know. I have sympathy for them. I had a great time in my youth as a JW and think it may have kept me out of some trouble. I don't blame anyone.
I know they have caused many hurt and pain, but for me I have many good memories of my youth in the congregation. I,m an exception to the rule it seems, since I wasn't hurt by them. This anger you have isn't good for your life, try and get over it.

when i was replying to nicolas' question in another thread, i used the following scripture to show why jws are always so tired:"the scribes and the pharisees have seated themselves in the seat of moses.

Guess what my high school graduation present was from my mon and dad?
A leather book bag just like the one you described. I think it is still in the closet, but I may have thrown it away, since it had mold all over it. I wish it had been a '54 Chevy coup.
