i come across a website which said that jehovah and ashterah were of indo-european origin.. what do you think of this theory?.
Should we rely on a book or legend, or are they both the same? When you hear something from your ancestors and write it down, it's still legend. I think the bible is also legend form someone's hearing it from someone else or someone claiming it happened to them and writing about it.
Recently I've heard so many different tales of what some of my grandkids supposedly did that don't agree, that I wonder if the bible wasn't sort of like that.

my husband is a huge fan of the science channel.
he shared this with me yesterday while we were taking a break from the yard work.. i thought this was interesting and wanted to share with you guys.. did you know that worldwide there are far more flying creatures (birds, insects) than walking or crawling creatures?

we hear so much about the boring talks.. several years ago an attempt was made to liven things up a bit by randomly choosing people before the public talk, handing them a slip of paper with a question on it, and asking if they would like to answer the question when called upon during the talk.
that must have been 20+ years ago.
anybody know why that practice was discontinued?.
It's been 37 years since I have given a talk and can hardly remember any of the things that went on in the KHs. I was very factual but very boreing when I gave talks. I have a recording of my memorial talk way back in the 60s. It's very boreing.
I think I have washed my mind of most of my JW days, or maybe old age did it.

Where did you get that idea? It seems the opposite. The old diseases are coming back into the USA now and many of the antibiotics aren't working anymore. The economy is about to go down hill to match the global economy and the terrorist attacks are just a matter of time away. A natural disaster is just waiting to happen. Am I being pesomistic or just realistic? Remember Armageddon is just around the corner, or is that soon, before I grow old or what?

did the nine resurrections reported in the new testament really happen?
if so, why is there nothing said about them other than that they were resurrected?what about their life after they were resurrected?
wouldn't it be a strong witness that jesus could bring the dead back to life?.
If this had really happened it would seem someone would have recorded it in the historical records of that time or at least one of those faithful ones resurrected would have talked about it in the bible. Sounds like a bunch of mystical writtings to me. Wonder how long they lived before they died again?

due to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?
remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.
what about the thousands that don't get caught?
This is just another problem of humanity, like murder, stealing, lying, adultry and many other debased activities. It happens by people in all religions. Can it be stopped? I doubt it but maybe some can be warned and some punished. The things being uncovered in the JWs just shows they are not being directed or protected by some God's spirit, like all the other religions that have the same problems. I'm having a problem seeing a real God in any religion, just seems to be the desire of people to know someone out there who can save them from what gets us all, death.
Of course this is just another opinion of someone who doesn't know s&it about what life and the universe is about.

i have received word that we are now 'very, very close'.
at the sunday meeting, according to my trusted source, the speaker actually said that 'it is no longer years, nor months - yet weeks and days'.
so they need you back, now!
It must be true because I saw a sign that said Jesus is comming and it shouldn't take him much time to get here. I also saw the TV show that said 2012 was the time for the end. My dog barked funny like and I think he was barking the end is near too. My 72 birthday is comming up pretty soon and for sure my end is near.

was was the first thing that really decieved you, in your jw years?.
was it the way you were treated, or maybe a teaching that deceived you ?.
i think my 1st deception was when they said that the resurrected ones wouldn't be allowed to get married in the new system.. then i wondered why ???
