It is none other than the (trumpet blast) e-watchman discussion board!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO APOSTATES WELCOME Whats-your-favourite-colour-and-why-type-old-'witnesses.com' subjects. All watched over by the kindly old man in the sky, the new head of JW's eeeeee-WATchMan. Go and see, but take a sour-ball Yuk. I'm orf to take a shower.

Does anyone remember those hideous murals?
by Country Girl infrom around 1964, until our congregation had a new kingdom hall built in the mid-70's or so, we had this mural behind the speaker's platform on the stage.
it was supposed to be paradise.
it had a nice range of mountains, a beautiful lake, and some flora and fauna in the foreground.

We had one in a kent cong. Most kids and probably adults used to look at it to kill time and try to ease the boredom. It was eventually painted over. We also had a score board - I never understood, then, what it was all about but I do remember some brother pasting numbers on it. Then there ws the map with litle pins in it denoting 'active', 'lapsed', 'disfellowshipped' etc. Then there was the drawing of battles on the cover of the old style watchtower - that had a watchtower on the front and putting a little flag on the mountain and blokes falling off the top of the tower, not to mention the speech bubbles on the line drawings.

E-Watchman campaign
by dustyb ini just thought i'd do an e-watchman campaign (explained at http://www.e-watchman.com/commentaries/feb_14_time_to_speak.html and also on another thread somewhere's else).
but what i'm wondering is if anybody knows who the po is for the sw missouri district (i'm not sure on district divisions).
i'm going to pull a maverick and put his address as the return addy and put about 100 letters in the mailbox.

It's all very well and 'big' of e-watchman to orchestrate a 'campaign' but I smell a rat. I sent the following email to his 'ask me, I'm a watchman' page
==
Well, well, e-watchman, finally coming off the fence with your 'A time to speak'
Will you have the strenght of your convictions and stand up and be counted like you are asking other JW's to do or will you hide behind their skirts, as it were. I hope that you are not just the loading bullets?==
It is all very well to ask others to put their family and friends on the line, let's see some 'fine examples' of how to do it by e-watchacleverchapman I am.
Or am I just being 'picky'

Ever give a ridiculous 'talk'?
by Steve Lowry inone day at the hall when i was about fifteen i guess, i looked at the talk schedule to see my name posted next to my next talk.
i hated giving a talk.
it made sick to my stomach before i would go 'on'.

I was 15 and had to give a talk on Labour Pains. I tried to keep it 'spiritual' i.e. israels labour pains but had to make reference to real ones. I was ragged rotten by the sister afterwards. It took about a week before my face returned to normal. I should have been used to it with 2 sisters - my mum would send me down to the shop to by sanitary towels. In those days the shop assistant would say 'who's next' and you would tell them what you wanted and they would put it on the counter for all to see. 'Tin of baked beans please' 'Tin of baked beans threppence (3d)' or 1.5p or less than a cent for you over-ponders 'anything else sonny?' 'er... whisper.. whisper blush blush'. Good thing was the assistant liked me and knew what i wanted and came back with it in a paper bag - which was nice of her. Of course, in those days they did not have wings or would fit in a small space like now, they were almost the size of a bath towel and the world and his wife could see what you had. Ahh, those were they days.

Governing Buzzards - Part 3 - Does the WTS lie about being Exonerated?
by Amazing inand likely rutherford and other top society officer must have known about this event ?
government motion in judges chambers:
this was fascinating, because while the society was allowed many motions, the government only made one motion ?

This is a really great post and has supplied me with info I have needed but not had time to research. Thank you all for your enlightening posts.
To my mind, it boils down to one thing. Truth.
Has the WTBTS been telling the truth. As, I believe, John Lennon said, 'All I want is the truth, won't someone just give me some goddamn truth'
That is what I want. I can handle the truth, whatever it is.
Lies. Well lies are a whole new ball game.
Let's keep the truth coming for as my Grandmother pounded into my brain 'The truth will out'.
She wasn't wrong.

Thanks for that onacruse. I noted too that the 'year' was FISCAL and not SERVICE in the quotes, which rather makes clear the driving force '....behind the name.'

Thank you Gretchen for your eloquent appraisal. I was so incensed that I couldn't type fast enough or get my thoughts organised, I kept spitting tacks into my hands as I typed.
Elsewhere, that photo is so gross, I can't uncurl my toes.
Syrup - read gretchen's comments and repent

The article in the Feb 15th WT really got up my nose.
The year book of 1974 page 212 is copied below - emphasis mine.
How does this compare with the Feb 15th 2004 Watchtower last paragraph page 6 continuing to page 7? Judge for yourselves.
Also a part from the 'Declaration of Facts' 1933 Berlin - emphasis mine.
Declaration of facts (extract)
"A careful examination of our books and literature will disclose the fact that the very high ideals held and promulgated by the present national government are set forth in and endorsed and strongly emphasized in our publications, and show that Jehovah God will see to it that these high ideals in due time will be attained by all persons who love righteousness and who obey the Most High. Instead, therefore, of our literature and our work's being a menace to the principles of the present government we are the strongest supporters of such high ideals. For this reason Satan, the enemy of all men who desire righteousness, has sought to misrepresent our work and prevent us from carrying it on in this land. "
*** yb74 p. 212 Germany (Part Three) ***
A total of 2,000 brothers and sisters had been put into concentration camps, where they had spent 8,078 years and six months, an average of four years. A total of 635 had died in prison, 253 had been sentenced to death and 203 of these had actually been executed. What a record of integrity!
WT 15/02/2004 page 6/7
In Nazi Germany, for example, they refused to compromise (really - see declaration of facts above) Christian principles and therefore were not acceptable according to Nazi ideology. Hitler hated them for it. Says one school textbook: "Jehovahs Witnesses...followed the teaching of the bible not to take up weapons in any cause - blah blah blah - in retaliation the SS blah blah blah. About a third of all Jehovah's Witnesses {in Germany} were murdered in concentration camps". - Germany - 1918-45.
-
so are they saying that there were only 1905 witnesses in Germany at the time (635 x 3) ?This is just blatant dishonesty.
