Myself, I would learn another 3 chords on guitar bringing the total to ..... 3. Imagine the musical possibilities of 3 chords (strummed, not arpeggiated or anything fancy schmancy).

WHAT THE HAIL IS GOING ON?
by wednesday inwell, dallas and surrounding areas have been hit again , just a few minutes go with hail.
last night it was very severe, accompanied by roatating winds.
we actually took shelter.

Here in Irving the sirens (the warning kind, not the wanton kind mind you (drats!)) were going off for an hour or more but I just kept an eye on the weather radar(s) to see when it would be time to get the hail out and head for shelter. A few sprinkles is all that we got though. I feel bad for all you folks that incured damage.

all out of dreams

war, economic problems, health problems, relationship problems.
i have come to a point in my life where it does not matter if i get out of bed in the morning.

My god woman! (I know, I know...it's not proper to mention god to a pagan...hehe) I just read your deconversion story.....write a screen play or something. Your life story has plenty of twists & turns, locales, drama, suspense ... all the necessary ingredients for a potential blockbuster. Just my thoughts anyway. It would sure give a different slant on the JWs than what most people know.

I recently ran across a book called "Longing For The End - A history of millenialism in western civilization" by Frederic Baumgartner. I find it very interesting since it shows how for two thousand+ years there have been wackos all too eager to interpret virtually any 'current' event as the prelude to "The End". And for so many years I thought that only the jws had such a view. Leave the WT, live, read and learn.
How can people believe?

I feel for you ((Jesika)). Not much I can add to the wonderful comments you've already gotten but I would say that you should go visit the gravesite. It means something to YOU and YOU will feel better for it. As for what to say, don't fret about it. Just say what you feel at the moment or say nothing. Sometimes when I stop by my aunt & uncle's graves it's just for a few moments and nothing needs to be said but I feel better for having gone and maybe reliving a memory or two.

Hi Jesika,
Several years ago I got hired for a job that sounds extremely similar to the one you found. I rode with two others and we were out in White Rock so I had no choice but to stick it out (one hell of a walk back to Irving!). One day is all they got from me as it became very obvious very quickly that it was a scam. But when you are desparate you give things a chance even if wary about it. All I can say is don't despair, the right job will come along and they will be glad to have you. I wish you all the best!

These are great stories!
Most of my meeting / study attendance was years and years ago and being "strange" seemed quite normal back then.
Once saw the two elders in a small congregation arguing over the best way to roll up the vacuum cleaner cord. Seems that elder A always knew the best way to do absolutely everything and elder B was trying to stand his ground on this one! I stood there amazed as they were turning redder by the second and thought for sure that fists would fly but it didn't come to that. Obviously deeper problems there.

Interesting. I've been meaning to post a thread asking if anyone here "hears voices" in their head or knows someone that does/has.
My ex-girlfriend used to say she often heard voices and had to stop and figure out if it was "the voices in her head" or her children talking to her. Since I had never run into that sort of thing and the way she would say it I didn't really know what to make of it. Anyway, having thought about it alot since we broke up I looked up "hearing voices" on Yahoo and virtually everything relates it to schizophrenia. I think I was denying the signals because I was too close to the situation (love being blind and all that) but it is true that she used to to be VERY heavily into drugs (some 15 yrs previous).
Hindsight being what it is I also can say that there were some paranoid episodes as well and her brother told me he believes she is manic-depressive. My real concern is for her kids and I am still in contact with her family occasionally and have been told that they worry about the kids too. There's nothing I can do that I know of but it still weighs on my mind.
So, any experiences out there? Is it the drug use (possibly current given her situation) or, though I never even gave the 'demonz' angle a thought, was it a result of always watching Joyce Meyers? <laughing softly>
