  Hey goddidit,

  if I was talking to an active JW I would talk to them about the safety of the most vulnerable in their community, their children.

  I would recommend they read about the conti case, and others like it.

  I would ask why are children's rights more protected in the world? Many professions have mandatory reporting requirements. Not JW.

  Maybe now, they are more careful, an active JW will probably try & brush it all away & say, it's in the past, that couldn't happen now.......... but, we are not talking about the dark ages here. We are talking about the 80/90/00s when these cases were occurring @ routinely being hushed up.

  Why did elders hear first hand from children/families about sexual abuse and not immediately refer this to the police? How could they live with themselves after doing this?

  this is mind boggling. What makes a body of elders believe that they have that right? There's nothing scriptural in this. This is meant to be a spirit directed organisation.

  Does this show love, or the action of holy spirit? To leave an abuser in a congregation, or perhaps just remove their privileges? Does the 2 witness rule quoted in their defence remind you of the attitude of the scribes & Pharisees that Jesus spoke out against?

  What motivates these actions? By covering up child abuse in order to protect the reputation of the JW religion they have shown themselves exactly the same as the Catholic Church, the Salvation Army & every other institution which has had to be forced to confront their failings in this area.

  The thing is, JWs believe they are better than the rest of the world, and they are not. Their own actions prove it.

  This is undeniable, plenty of verifiable information on line.

  What Are The Chances of Someone "Going Postal" At Bethel?

  we all know that the governing body are playing a dangerous game with peoples lives.

  getting people to devote their lives to the cause of the of the watchtower corporation and then finding out it was all a lie/delusion only to be even more mistreated by them if speak out about it.. i think it is a very dangerous situation they are in even right there at bethel, and here is why:.

  as knowledge increases about the lies and underhandedness of the governing body and their cruel policies,, more and more people are begining to hate the governing body, the more likely that someone in their midst "going postal"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/going_postal).. i think the likelihood increases as the cruelty of the governing body increases.

  This is interesting. I found out TATT much later, years after I was out. Though it messed me up, I've still had a good life.

  Anyway, in spite of that, IM STILL REALLY ANGRY! About a lot of things, like the lies, Malawi, Blood, lack of education etc etc. And yet anyone who looked at my life would say, what have you got to complain about, you turned out OK?

  the thing is. So many my age didn't turn out OK. So many I knew are desperately trying to survive in a world they were taught to be no part of.

  My point is, how much ANGRIER would I be if I'd been at Bethel, lost most of my chances to live a normal life? If I'd never had money, sex, family etc etc? If I was made to feel guilty for masturbating? If I had no career? No privacy even?

  No one should live in an institution. ( well, almost no,one, you know what I mean )

  Bethel sounds like the worst possible kind of pressure cooker environment, I'm surprised it hasn't happened already!

  Sorry?

  This was the last question in my judicial committee. Even thought don't remember much of that whole thing I do remember them asking me if I was sorry.

  I replied no, I'm not sorry for what Ive done........... but, I'm sorry for myself now I'm sitting here going through this.

  Thats the wrong kind of sorry!

  BAM DFd.......ultimately the best thing that ever happened to me, so, there you go.

  Hi free ff, I just re read your comments & story.

  can I stress to you that I understand what it's like to have some bad experiences? I've had some bad experiences too, with friends of either sex whose partners didn't like me. I think a lot of times it's whats going on in their relationship, not you.

  but you are right, who wants to get in the middle of anyone's domestic dramas? Not me. But, I just felt like you might miss out on something great, by limiting yourself to just girls/gay men.

  i suppose what stuck out to me from your post was that you said you are looking for friendship in a new city. I know that feeling all too well, as I've moved a few times. Add that to being an xJW, it can be really lonely. I wish you all the best, finding friends can be hard. Even harder as you get older.

  Hi free ff, I think of course you can have platonic relationships with the opposite sex, why not?

  I have generally worked in male dominated environments. I had guys I regularly had lunch or dinner with. Another guy was my movie buddy & we saw a movie every couple of weeks. Sometimes their wives/girlfriends ended up becoming friends as well.

  He says it's platonic? So you've discussed it? Cool.

  Then have a nice lunch, don't cut yourself off from 1/2 the population!

  Got an interview

  as some of you know, i had no job last year, then finally got something in an industry that i know nothing about.

  the environment and people haven't been the best, but i had to stick it out and hope that things would improve.

  i have kept my eye and ears open for opportunities more in my field of expertise - which is print advertising.. i sent through my cv for a job i saw advertised in the newspaper for an advertising sales rep - applied and now i have an interview to go too tomorrow.. i've learnt not to get my hopes up - i am glad for the interview and i hope it goes well..

  If he hasn't been married before (I don't know)

  she is going to have a wedding night with a man who has not had sex for 48 years!

  He wouldn't have masturbated either, would he?

  This has started me thinking....if a man hasn't had any form of sexual release for that long, does it just go away? Or, do the men that end up in that situation have lower sexual drives to begin with? Puzzling?

  I need some serious advice...

  i'm almost a year out of high school and of course, i'm not in college.

  i'm a pioneer (sigh) with little to no work experience and having a really hard time finding any work.

  i want to go back to college, but it's going to be difficult now that i'm a pioneer, and my parents cannot really afford the loans that will incur should i pursue going to college.

  Hi confused teenager!

  I'm going to confuse you more, with some contrary advice!!!!!!

  Firstly go to college/uni! Just go! Pick a course based on what you are good at, don't worry about big decisions like finding your passion or anything like that. If your good a maths, focus on that, communicator? Marketing or BA, whatever.

  The important thing is just to get started.

  Not everyone can work in what they love, but, that's not a bad thing. Because a good job gives you financial freedom to enjoy doing what you love. For example, my husband always loved woodworking & apprenticed to his uncle as a carpenter when he was young.

  Still, he ended up in financial areas & has been a general manager of major international companies for many years. His job has allowed him to manage hundreds of people, travel the world ( he was financially able to take 2 years off & backpack in his 20s) & have the money to sail, ski, have a family, buy a home etc etc all the good stuff.

  the thing is, his career works to his strengths, which are people management & communication. He still makes a ton of stuff in the garage/workshop and his passion has remained that, something to be enjoyed, not the source of our livelihood.

  In summary, just think about what your best at & go for it. If your friends were going to describe you, what would they say?

  you won't regret getting an education. You only have to look at this board to appreciate how many here deeply regret not doing what your considering now.

  Finally, your youth is really precious, enjoy it, don't waste it (like I did hahahah!) trudging around knocking on doors, good luck!

  I think using the word "blame" implies that you are not taking responsibility for your own issues.

  I know I've made my own problems, by being aloof, a bad communicator etc etc.

  Plenty of other xJW seem to speak/emote freely.

  I probably would have struggled a bit due to my nature anyway, but, the JW made things so much worse.

  i do blame the JW for lying about the end of the world, what a load of crap.

  Telling children this rubbish over & over is a form of child abuse.

  Someone in here is a mole

  hy guys the other day my wife had a discussion with her jws brother and he told her that he received all posted material from this site posted by myself and was disgusted with the information.

  now that's all fine by me but what i am pissed about is that some one in here from sydney australia is a mole and pretends to be an ex jws while all the while exposing each and every one he knows as in my case.

  you are one big coward and one who hides behind a skirt a yellow and a chicken shit whom doesn't have the balls to face me in person because you obviously know who i am.

  l p......hahahaha, when I first read this thread I didn't comment on it, I just felt guilty (by association) because I'm from Sydney!!

  I've put enough information on here, anyone that knew me would recognise me, but, doesn't matter because the only person I wouldn't want to read it is my mother & she is to strong a JW to ever visit an apostate site.

  Why don't we catch up next week, or the week after (after school holidays) I'm looking forward to it.
