Hahaha...."heavy petting" I forgot that was a thing. This would have to be the creepiest phrase ever uttered.

Old out-of-touch JWs using antiquated terms
by sir82 inever notice how completely out of touch some (most?
) public speakers are?.
last week we had a speaker ramble on for fully 1/3, maybe 1/2, of his 30 minute talk on the evils of "rap music".. i don't believe the term "rap music" has been uttered by anyone under the age of 40 for at least 20-25 years.. this week we got another "older gentleman" warning us about the pervasive dangers of "internet chat rooms".. again - didn't "chat rooms" die out about the same time as dialing up to connect to aol?.

The New Diary of Winston Smith
by WinstonSmith inwe had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

Maybe the most beautiful city in the world
by DJS ini have been to frejus, cannes, st. tropez and san rafael (maybe the most beautiful city in the world - no wait that would be cannes, or san tropez).
i traveled the coastal highway one day from s. of hyeres to monte carlo.

Yes, I've been on that road. The French Riviera was far more beautiful than I thought it would be.
I think Coastline of Santorini is right up there also. :)

What Is The Most Absurd JW Belief or View?
by minimus inthere are many silly doctines and viewpoints.. one of the strangest ones is the blood doctrine.. why anyone could logically accept this belief is beyond reason..

How about priding themselves on no infant baptism, whilst baptising children. Children, who have had no opportunity to question, or examine what they have been told by their parents.
Then, if they change their minds, never speak to them again!

Since leaving watchtower what has been your biggest act of rebellion?
by 3rdgen ini'm in a pissy mood and would love to hear your stories.
personally, i'm thinking of getting a tatoo on my rear end saying wbt$ kiss this!.

My biggest act of rebellion is learning how to be selfish. By that I mean, learning how to find something you like doing, and do it, for yourself, for fun. Having fun is something I have had to learn. It's not easy. But, having kids makes you confront things & work on them.

Funny but kind of sad story
by troubled mind inmy youngest son (26yrs old) told me the other day that his barber told him a funny story .. it seems the barber use to be the janitor at the local grade school ,and one day he came into the office and noticed this little red headed boy sitting in there .
now the man said this was a busy day for the little kids ,holiday parties going on in the class rooms so he was curious as to why this little guy was just sitting in the office ...so the janitor asked the secretary what was up with that ?
.....then he said the little red headed kid speaks up loudly ,"i hate being a witness !!

I'm really impressed that your son was able to say the words "I hate being a witness". To me that shows that he was still able to verbalise his feelings, which is healthy, and would help explain why he is not so bitter now.
You must have done some good parenting! :)

Were U Surprised To Learn Anything About The Witnesses That U Didn't Know??
by minimus inwhen i was a kid, i researched the origins of the religion and realized that the witnesses were an offshoot of adventism.....we're you surprised to learn something about the witnesses that you didn't realize?.

Like BluesBrother, I was shocked about the UN thing. Growing up, the UN was the most hated thing...right up there with Christendom/Babylon the Great.
Since visiting this board I have also been shocked to realise how much of my personal development has been moulded/warped by being raised a JW. There have been some excellent posts about this, and I'm still absorbing it....just becoming aware of it though, is huge.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY believe that their worldly friends, relatives and small children will be slain in the street by god?
by jambon1 ini mean, it's so utterly ****ed up, it's unbelievable.. just think about the nitty gritty of it:.
people that they love & care for who don't share their religion deserve to be killed, left without a grave & eaten by wild animals.
one day, this will happen & they'll be surrounded by billion upon billion of decaying, rotting corpses.

Yes they do believe this 100% and if you are raised by an uber dub then it is forced on you every day as a child.
it really messes up your brain, I had constant anxiety as a child. Also, what worldly friends? You don't make friends with people who are dying? You don't even talk to relatives who are worldly, they are dead already also.
I never understood the glee with which adults used to look forward to this destruction. Now, I think maybe in my area at least a lot of them were people who were failures in the real world & they knew it. Armageddon was like the ultimate revenge fantasy for them, maybe?

Time for this Newbie to say - Hello everyone!
by SeventhSojourn inin just the several months i've been lurking here, i have benefited from many of the posters comments and viewpoints.
this is truly a special place for the unique community that has been created here.. after years of holding off my exit from the org (that may be another post) i recently became officially out (by letter of da), but it was a very difficult process as many of you know.
thankfully, i now have my wife (was also a witness) onboard and we support each other.
