Not sure how long this man had lived in the US - but Western logic and Korean logic (incl. behaviour/consequences) are very different.

Someone from Oregon "ME" - View on this James Kim event
by free2beme ini spent last saturday about 10 miles out of grants pass bring some supplies to a friend who was in the search and rescue for james kim, and talking with people who were looking for him.
being a long time resident of oregon, i can tell you exactly where he was, as i have been down that road many many times.
it is a remote location, at best, and locals mainly use it for hunting a fishing access, or maybe a chance to go motorcycle riding through the mountains.

WITNESSES REACTION TO FACING DEATH......
by Mary ini went to see someone in my old hall last night, who's recently been diagnosed with cancer.
she's only in her late 40s, healthy, so this was a shock when i found out about it the other night.
apparently it's gone in to her liver and her doctor has not given her any hope of surviving it, although they're going for a second opinion, as the doctors in our area are notoriously incompetent.. even though i stopped going to the meeting 2 years ago, i thought going to see her was the human thing to do, since she studied with me when i was 15 years old and i thought it would maybe be comforting for her to talk to someone else who had had cancer.

When I had to make arrangements for my son's burial I asked my parents (elder) if they would like to contribute to a family plot at the crematorium, where everyone would eventually be together. The response was an overwhelming 'no'... definitely a 'denial' reaction...and my father is 84!! Their attitude seemed to border on my 'lack of faith' that they would survive into the new system/world. I just hope they will go quickly as dealing with the recognition/resignation will be very difficult.

Mom Died -- and I found out from an old friend!
by BrendaCloutier inok, i'm writing this thru tears as i just found out in the last 5 minutes.
my dad died in august, and they had been together just 1 or 2 weeks over 70 years married!
i didn't expect her to last without him, and visa versa.. i just tried to call my sister, and no answer there.

So sorry for your loss - it's a double-edged sword - the 'loss' and the behaviour of JW's....I know.

Did any of you ever have "overzealous"parents?
by Ex-Jo Ho inthis may have been discussed before but did any of you have crazy strict parents...i mean did they have even more strict ideas than what the religion already had put restrictions on?.
my stepfather had been a crazy drug/alcohol addict before dragging my family into the "truth"...then it seemed he became obsessed with the religion.
honestly...i don't know which was worse!

OP
Apart from the "having been an alcoholic" - that is the story of my life - and except that my mum was right there too.

America is but one of the players in this game, and is not the objective.
I think the POOF theory is a little simplistic....a least from where I sit - I hope so.

At the book study (can't remember which book) an older, and always very vocal brother, commented that many women - selfishly - do not breast feed their babies because they do not want to ruin their figure....wonder what pregnancy does??

jwfacts - of course there could be more than one of those but it sounds like the same - they had a baby when I saw them but were still DF. I've been out of the country for a while. Had a CO relative too. Family still in....you would no doubt know them.
