What about Abraham having sex with Sarah's Egyptian maid servant Hagar, because Jehovah said he was going to have another son? I guess this would be a little different, but not much. If a couple wanted to have a child, would the surrogate be sinning by having the insemination or just the old in and out? One drawback might be that the offspring starts another religion, which could put a kink in things...what was Abraham thinking?

this is mostly directed to others that were born/raised in the cult.
more specifically those raised in the cult who also suffered from severe depression and/or social anxiety disorder or any other mental illness (other than the normal probs that come with being in the borg).
sometimes i wonder if its just me that doesnt feel like a person now.
Some of us are luckier than others when leaving and have been fortunate enough to have helpfull surroundings after. Some not. My cousin went crazy 2 years or so ago and ended up killing himself in a standoff w/police. I blame several things for his final descision. One would be his lack of maturation to the world. He was never able to make real friends, at least not the kind that wouldn't get you in trouble. He also had seemingly no moral/ethical compass. The concept of right and wrong went out the window. His mother and siblings all shared differing levels of support for the WT, so he had no one to help him become a whole person outside the org. He pretty much shunned himself from all of the family, jw or not., which I regret as I had no chance to help him. Its almost like leaving a small child to his own devices. Sooner or later something bad will happen. Don't be the small child. Be the inquisitve one and share your opinons with those around you. It might be that you are just being overly shy and don't give yourself enough credit. Challenge yourself to be a part of the mix as it were. That's the thing I bet that is foriegn, as you said previously that you were safe in the org. There is no mix...just the monotone of no self expression. Its really like coming to this forum and exposing your views and postings to public scrutiny. It isn't a bad thing, just different, which may require that you turn on the charm and take off that robot getup. I'm not dismissing the depression and anxiety issues at all, just trying to offer some encouragement. If you need counseling or therapy for those issues then by all means seek out a professional, or find someone that will really listen to you. Aha! One of those things you might have to persue in regards meeting new people. Wish you the best...

I've seen JWs stay together and be miserable a large portion of their lives, just for the sake of not getting DFd or DAd or losing privilidge within the congo and you tell me I'm mocking what you said? Obviously you are stuck in the "I can't make up my mind about being an individual" mode to get it. Letting someone kick you out of your own house so their holier than thou friends can sit on your couch and share uplifting association with your wife, is really an option? You ask yourself why she would do that to you? Who's feelings are more important? Yours? Her "friends"? What self respecting dude would tolerate that crap? Where is her respect for you, or is that all dependent on whether or not you are in the borg? Show me where in anything you said there is some deeper meaning other than you are either too confused or too chicken shit to be a critical thinker who knows better and is willing to take a real leap of conscience. For your own goddam sake!

i was absolutely astonished to get an email today from a mate of mine saying the j-dubs have just thrown a hall up in town.
not only that, it's my old congregation, the one talking about building their own hall 10 years ago when i was there if not years before that.. so i just had to take the bike out and have a look.
weird place crammed between other buildings, and amazingly smaller than what it is replacing.
ballistic, this is one of those areas I have been thinking about. We've been talking about resolutions and following along the party line and I really think building new halls is a prime examply of how brothers and sisters get caught up in the moment without really thinking. Who is going to really object to going into debt for Jehovah? Many congregations go deep into debt just for a new building and most go over expected costs, leaving brother X with a guilty conscience when he can't fork over serious money to pay the monthly bills.

Why just this morning I was thinking of reinstatement myself. Then I ate some more lead paint. You would have to be losing your mind to even consider such a thing. I suppose someone cold talk themselves into believing again, but could you do so with a clean conscience? The first time you watched a fellow brother or sister get shunned and lose a family, or die from lack of proper medical care, or listen to subtle and insidious lies based on some biblical pretext...would you not have the urge to stand up for the real truth? So much for that reinstatement....pass me that lead paint!

after receiving a concerned email about a post on this board threatening to expose some participants to their employees (as being disruptive elements), i did some reading of their posts.
although i completely sympathize with simon here http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/ and have walked many miles in his shoes as an administrator for h2o from 1996 until present, i still was at a complete loss to assure this individual who sent me the email.. i get a gut feeling that simon really wouldn't carry through this threat!
perhaps h2o moderators including myself were fortunate enough not to have been driven far enough to ever post such a perceived threat to disruptive elements, which in fact was a warning and not intended as a threat.
No one has mentioned whether or not Simon has actually nailed some troll by the methods mentioned in previous posts. If an implied threat works, then maybe folks would be more steadfast in the belief that one user name is enough.
