  has anyone else recieved the letter from the gb about international conventions in 2014?

  according to the letter the missionarys/order of full time servants desperately need to get to the conventions in their homeland.

  so to accomplish this, jehovah needs 15 cents per publisher, per congregation for some months ( sorry i can't remember the exact length of time ).

  As a public figure... star football player for a team playing for the national championship... then if IF he created this fictitious person in order to either garner sympathy or to deflect criticism or hide a lifestyle even... it becomes a public story, open to speculation and possible ridicule, if he's found to have been lying and deceitful.

  It's no skin off my nose and I don't really care... just celebrity gossip. I never knew who he was until I watched the BCS championship.

  my problem with him is team recruitment and coaching issues but not his integrity as a businessman.

  Same here. He's genius at marketing his brand of NFL. I mean, look at the Cowboy's record since their last Super Bowl. They're mediocre, at best. They have not been a good team, from top to bottom. Yet, they're still the most valuable sports franchise in the country...if not the world. They still sell tickets, shirts, hats. The sports media love talking about them. They dissect this team more than any other, even when they're 8 - 8 and aren't going to the playoffs.

  I get so frustrated when JJ starts talking big about making major changes and then fires a couple of coaches, ignoring the real problem of the last twenty years... the General Manager - himself. He would have been fired from the Panthers, Bears, Colts or any other team that went from flirting with the playoffs to stinking up the field. But not good ole Jerrah, as long as he's breathing, he's gonna call the shots.

  Our only hope is that his son is learning how not to run a team, for when he inherits Daddy's position...

  I don't know enough details to cast stones at him... yet, but it is possible to have an online relationship even to the point that he claims. We've mourned the loss of people who posted on this board, even when we never knew them. This is more involved, granted, but I can see it going down the way it was initially reported, and with him not being 'dumb as a box of rocks', just naive and too trusting. He's still a kid, after all, even if he does play football for Notre Dame.

  But time...and investigations...will tell the real truth.

  Flipper,

  going back a couple of pages, you asked my favorite team. I've been a long time (and now a somewhat longsuffering) fan of the Cowboys. From the days of Dandy Don to Roger the Dodger, back when the Cowboys were up and comers, then champions and then in the early 90s a dynasty. Much like James, I want Jerrah to step down as GM and hire a football person, but expecting that is kinda like a JW expecting Armageddon... ain't gonna happen. So, while I flirt with abandoning them, when I see the blue and silver, I can't help it, I gotta pull for em. It's too ingrained in my psyche.

  Later that day, during lunch, Katty, an inactive deaf Witness, approached Gabriela to ask about the convention. Gabriela replied frankly: “It was beautiful! But now as a baptized Witness, I want to stay faithful to Jehovah. So I must let you know that I can’t be your friend anymore because you live an unclean life. Being your friend can affect my friendship with God. You need to change. It’s important to pray to Jehovah and also to talk with the elders. I know you can change for the better.” Thanks to Gabriela’s forthright but loving admonition, Katty talked with the elders, received spiritual help, and became active in theministry once again.

  This is new to me. The implied counsel of shunning inactive ones. This one paragraph doesn't give us any info on Katty, the inactive JW, other then being deaf. Nothing about smoking, drugs, shacked up, partying, etc. Just that she is inactive. And Gabriela had to go out of her way to make a point of letting Katty know that her devotion to being a JW was more important than being friends with her...or using good manners.

  And then the WTS writer actually gives kudos to Gabriela for being a right c***.

  But notice that it doesn't say that Katty and Gabriela became friends once again. It says Katty became active in the ministry again. And that's all that's important to the WTS. Obedience and service. Even to the point of influencing active JWs to shun, unfriend and belittle inactive members.

  The term: To disfellowship in spanish congregations...

  in the english congregations they used to announce that brother x has been disfellowshipped.

  but in the spanish congregations the announcement was made using the word expulsado (spanish)= expel in english.

  when i look up the word disfellowship, this is what i found:.

  JWs hate using words that can be tied to Catholicism (or any other religion for that matter), like "bulletin" or "communion (excommunicate)". It's a trait of cults - come up with their own buzzwords and language that is readily identifable in the group, but not so recognized outside the group.

  Growing up in a fairly strict family, even in JW standards, I was somewhat of an outcast among other JW kids. But, I was considered exemplary by the adults, a good little dubbie kid. Then I was out on my own. Loosened up, got a little more worldly, though still an obedient dub. Made friends easier among the young adult group. Slipped in my service and reaching out. Wasn't so exemplary. Eventually removed as MS. Rebounded somewhat, became a little more serious about it, became exemplary again, but then my eyes were opened and I started my fade. No more friends, no longer exemplary, completely invisible

  James, James, James... why would a Cowboys fan ever want the 49ers to ever go to the Super Bowl again?

  NFC - Atlanta over San Fran 31-28

  AFC - Baltimore over New England 28-24

  SB - Atlanta over Baltimore 17-14 in the worst SB game ever played

  these are based on my personal dislikes of all four teams and have no scientific support
