Ya know, with some of the older ones, sometimes I think it's best to not bust their bubble.
Say they're seventy or eighty and been a JW for all or most of their lives. Somebody comes along and pulls the rug out from underneath them. What do they have left? Their life is almost over and they have spent it supporting an organiztion that isn't what it says. It might be enough to have them give up on life. It might be in their best interest to let em be.
I'm thinking of several older ones that I remember from the halls that I attended who are considered pillars of the congregation, mostly sisters. They are sweet, decent, kindly old folks who nobody would want to see hurt. To destroy their belief system would destroy them. The WTS is evil and bastards for taking advantage of such people but these old folks weren't out to hurt anyone.
It's a conundrum.
