Wouldn't want those JWs to TALK to one another after a beer......you never know what might be said...........
There's probably more truth to this than we realize. It seems like they have a real fear of any gathering of the sheeple outside of pre-programmed and WT controlled events.
They even did away with the Book Study arrangement. Can't have the dubbies discussing doctrine over pie and coffee after the meeting, coming to conclusions not prescribed by 'mother'. They discouraged large gatherings of congregation picnics, going so far as to make sure that the term 'congregation picnic' was not to be used. They've discouraged large wedding receptions and the use of alcohol at any gathering. They don't outright ban it, but put a heavy guilt trip on anyone thinking about serving it.
Now Super Bowl parties, where - oh my god - crappy Bud Light and Coors Light will be served. in vino veritas is the fear of the GB when dubbies get together and have a few. In the leadership's mind, the doubts, questions and disenchantments are more apt to be voiced at a gathering of this nature.
A fear to have of some private JW gatherings, but not so much at Super Bowl parties. It's too much pre-game hype, sub-par football, beer and Go-Daddy commercials, half-baked half-time shows and the true enjoyment of being able to actually celebrate at least one 'worldy' holiday without being sanctioned....until now anyway.
