so my dad and i went fishing and we got to talking about russell and his demotion.

now my father admits that this change in doctrine screws everything up.

now i am sure someone here may have thought about this but he says, "well if russell is not inspired and that means 1914 is no go the next available date would be 1935 as a keystone for everything.. if they finally recognize secular sources and point to 586 or 587 they can now say that jesus began ruiling in 1933 or 34 and selected rutherford at that time.

he gave them laws.

so, unexpectedly, the final talk was announced today and to my surprise and evil glee, they announced gerrit loesch as the speaker!

first off, at the beginning of his talk, he interrupted himself in the middle of his sentence to scold the microphone brother to lower my mike it's right in my face.. anyway, it was the talk on inspired truth, vs. inspired falsehoods.

he went through 6 expressions inspired by the demons.

If they finally recognize secular sources and point to 586 or 587 they can now say that Jesus began ruiling in 1933 or 34 and selected Rutherford at that time. As a way to show that they had Jesus blessing as the chosen church through divine inspiration they seperated themselves from others by taking the name Jehovah's Witness just 1 year later...

Of course I was glad that he is thinking along these lines because I swear I can get him out or atleast continue to be my buddy - however at the same time the way that he raddled this off his tongue so quickly has me concerned as well.

This would remove Russell completely out of the picture... 1914 completely out and to a degree it could make some sense

@Adventure - yes it is actually pretty pathetic.

My mom is in love with it. She sad hopefully one day she can go there on a tour... "Jehovah willing".

All the money that she has donated the place should be like a freaking time-share for her

The antidote to the myth that JWs are declining

one of the most persistent myths on this website is that jws are already in decline, the rot has set in, and the descent of the watchtower is inevitable from here on in.

unfortunately the facts do not bear this out.

jws are still increasing even in most developing countries, and they are still growing worldwide at a faster rate than the general population.

In regards to pioneers and aux pios increasing that is a total sham.

Our hall 23 pioneers. 9 made their time the others were all 100+ hours short with the exception of 5. We met with them and of the 3 I met with they were all habitual offenders. The ones who made it 6 were of the "foreignn language" field that counts the time they waste driving 20 miles from call to call. The aux pios rarely ever make there time.

I would sign the sheet to Aux pio with no real intention of actually making it. I lied about my hours damn near every single month. I would arrange the group and then tell them I had a call and had to meet a brother at the hall. I would instead drive around listening to music or maybe even just go home and tell my wife that no one came out.

I do not think i was the exception. Most of the people who became new publishers were literally 4 or 5 months deep in their study. Young kids all leaving and going to college or just have no desire to come regularly.

All this to say that the numbers look good on paper but the organization is not growing with what they would term "quality" publishers and numbers. It is just a bunch of people trying to look good and enjoy the social club. If another 1975 fiasco happens the number to leave would be huge because many are just looking for an excuse.

The only real ones left are the 50+ gen hoping that they didn't waste their lives for nothing

here i am, getting old and having my teeth and fillings (literally!

) falling apart now, and barely any dental coverage.

i just feel so sad and pissed off that i didn't do more when i was a jw and actually had coverage at the time.... .

This Relatively New Governing Body @ Bethel Not Liked By Bethelites Even the Ass Kissers

when i was a bethelite back many years ago(1970's), a lot of bethelites would say negative things about knorr, kline, and other members of the gb in private conversation.

there was at that time more freedom to express these things without feeling too threatened, which i feel is no longer the case.. now we have a completely new governing body all appointed after 1999 except for losch(1994).

since that time we have seen a steady increase in authoritarianism from this self proclaimed august body, where no descension or voicing a negative opinon with reguards to the governing body is allowed.

@?evrything - When I was there my assignment in the office complex entailed me cleaning that room. So many times I thought - wow what I would do to be a fly on the wall. In hindsight I can imagine it would have been great if I did.

The had this ENORMOUS cherry wood table in there that the story was cost over a million dollars. I didn't believe it because in all honesty I was told to just use the bethel version of PLEDGE on it for the 4 months it was my assignment... but it was pretty.
