The Circuit Overseer's mid week talk
by stuckinarut2 inso the mid week talk from the co is making me feel ill..... he is going on about all the wonderful adjustments in the org and teachings, and just how clear and understandable they are....and saying that these truths make us more convinced that we have the truth!.
and that all these changes are evidence of love for the people in our territory... the truth is now so much clearer and easier to understand..... oh come on!!!!!!!!.
aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!.

Two things especially were hilarious: pointing out how the society celebrated christmas in the '20s (Jesus chose this org in 1918, remember?
Would love to use this blatant contradiction...but those I know still in would just respond with blah blah light gets briiiigghterrrrr....

New Book: Fictional - "Chronicle of a Silence Endured" About Child Abuse in religions including JWs
by AndersonsInfo inamazon book review: http://www.amazon.com/chronicle-silence-endured-guido-verona/dp/1593308515/ref=sr_1_1?ie=utf8&qid=1398943285&sr=8-1&keywords=chronicle+of+a+silence+endured.
"chronicle of a silence endured" (chronicleofsilence.com) is a highly intriguing and deeply woven fictional piece.
it chronicles the psychological and spiritual trials that befall the 'hero' as he moves through life bound by the stigma of his childhood abuse.

I'm just purchased this book from Amazon, thanks for the opportunity. My family has endured the hushed-up/pretend-it-didn't-happen/doesn't-matter-anymore attitude for several decades now and although the abused daughter follows that jw line, I find I continue to be internally outraged at the silence.

JWs in Florida and California. Is there really a difference?
by BU2B ini have heard over the years from many different people about how jws in those states are unlike elsewhere.
the parties they have, the way they dress and the permissive attitude.
i just heard from a sister that is from florida, that if you are not "spiritually strong" you will "fall out of the truth" down there.

Maybe it has to do with the age of the jws?

Interesting thread....
I've had elders make fun of me for recycling...one who made fun of me told me he wouldn't do it because the recycler made money from it. I told him, hey, they do it at Bethel. He shut up. How ridiculous an attitude is that?
I've been a recycler from the first time I located bins to do it, and a grateful to now live in a community where it is practiced. We used to have to drive our stuff to large public recycling dumpsters, and I was happy to see them. For years any beverage I buy is in glass bottles and I recycle them all. I keep my canvas and hemp shopping bags in my car and carry them into every store...hate the plastic bags that my daughter brings home because she is too lazy to use the nice shopping bags in our garage (she's a pioneer and apparently doesn't think the earth matters since it will be "cleansed" soon™).
The folks at work make fun of my glass water bottles but oh well...I bring them home to the blue bins anyway.
Any paper products go in that bin, including all the junk mail and envelopes. It's crazy how much paper normally goes in the trash at y workplace, and how so many people just don't give a...hoot. Remember Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute?
Have to admit I was impressed when we finally got separate bins for trash and recyclables at the assembly hall. Wish more people took it seriously.

Oubliette, my thoughts exactly on the shunning issue.
I always ask "would Jesus do this?" And you know, those WWJD bracelets may have been a good thing after all.

How many years has it been since they dropped from 120 to 90 to 70?
They'll make it easier for more folks to pioneer™ and the only way is to drop the hours.

What do you do when your job makes you wanna puke your face off?
by Julia Orwell ini'm talking like makes you physically sick and emotionally frazzled just thinking about it.
i'm talking like you hate it to the point you'd rather go without than work at it just for the money.
you'd live on cheap korean packet noodles for the next year instead of exchanging your labor for this job's money.. well, this is how i feel about teaching and tutoring.

You sound like one of my daughters who is amazingly talented but seems to think her creations are just so-so.
I'm thinking that once you learn to LOVE yourself, you will see how wonderful you are. But I definitely need to find relevant marketing strategies for you so that's on my list.
(((((big hugs)))))
