  I don't think it would make much difference as I don't socialize with any jdubs anyway. I used to be "scared" of it but the more I've come to realize that it's NOT REAL IN JW LAND, the less I care.

  My important family that is still in will continue to associate with me. My family that is out will most likely remain out, and continue to associate with me. My other jw "family" that I never see anyway will probably shun me, but then....I won't notice.

  So, in summation...nope. It's no more important than losing a game of Twister, and I think Twister might hurt more.

  Interesting experience at work re: convention invite

  so, a guy i know and would sometimes chat with briefly at work came to me recently.

  he said he'd been invited by his neighbor to attend the upcoming jw convention.

  apparently, he had heard that i used to be a jw and wanted to get my thoughts about whether he should go.

  Good news indeed! Hopefully your inquisitive co-worker will share the info with others and explain to them how the jws are in a cult run by the gb.

  Limiting their growth has tons of potential, for sure.

  Governing Body name change

  i was reading at foro extj a mention of a name change that's been in the works for months it seems.. the wt at jw.org in spanish is calling the governing body "consejo central" without capitalizing the name.. here's the spanish news release item about guy pierce passing away:.

  Why are 'most' of the people fighting in the Middle East MEN???

  it seems that in every war or revolution, 'most' of the participants are men and young boys.

  aside from the occasional female suicide bomber.

  does this have something to do with their religion and/ or cultural traditions?

  Women, by nature, tend to nurture rather than kill.

  The closest most of us come to violence is an occasional road rage incident of flipping off someone who shouldn't even have a license.

  If women ran the world, we'd destroy all the weapons and force people to sit down together and talk it out. Seriously.

  here is one... my mil told me according to a co talk that she heard jehovah could strike you dead when he is executing judgement based on the clothing you are wearing.

  she was mad at the moment of skirts that were above the knee on me and her friend.. i said to her two things:.

  1) i hope i am not in the tub during this predicament.. 2) i thought jehovah read hearts?.

  Steve2, don't you know that all these parties are acceptable in the sight of the gb-god BECAUSE they are not held on "church" grounds. Those wicked, evil baptists have the nerve to build (gasp) picnic tables on their properties for Sunday meals!!! Can you believe it??? jdubs are much better than that, they force each other to host their stoopid "gatherings" (and don't dare call them parties!).

  oh wow..... the public talk today is certainly embarrassing for witnesses!.

  started (completely left field too...seemed to come out of nowhere) with condemning homosexuality, and anyone who even tolerates it.

  if you like tv shows or movies with gay characters, you are "just as bad" (eg modern family tv show).

  this was posted in the men's room stall, i hear the instructions in the womens room was more detailed.. this was in addition to having a "bathroom attendant" handing out 1 paper towel per person.. i haven't felt so childish since i was in grade schooll, i had to wonder if all the tall people around me were really grown men and women.. .
