probably a dumb question, but what is the proper way to write "...in jehovah's witness literature.

"...in jehovah's witness' literature.".

"...in the literature of jehovah's witnesses.".

Just when you think you're past it all...

you"re now the "unbelieving mate" who is now pursuing your degree just before your mid-life crisis hits because until you woke up to the tatt, you bought into the whole "you'll never grow older in this system of things...".

you're watching your parents grow old fully-invested.... your spouse still invested because "there is no better alternative....".

your in-laws still won't come over tomorrow (thanksgiviing day) to eat turkey because it might just look like.... just when you think you're past it all and you feel that little bit of jw that is still there at your core eventhough you think you're beyond jwism..... and you remember and empathize and love your loved ones just a little bit more... because as of yet, they cannot find it in them to distance themselves from somethign you found limiting, closing, dark, and oppressive.. may they all find their freedom one day.

We used to be told by the elders that there would be special arrangements for a few hours on the _____ holiday and we were to meet at the hall at 10am. The plan was always to visit those new to the cong who were spending their first holiday without the "worldly" trappings -- never to go door-to-door.

Apparently the "special arrangements" were for all the elders to stay home.

i work for a mental health unit with 2 police officers we deal with people who have drug and mental health issues.

at times over the last 10 years we have "taken down" some large drug affected men, mainly "ice" these days which is epidemic here, and let me tell you even with three of us it is a huge struggle.

sometimes back up is needed or mace spray which is aweful stuff!

Apog, that sounds like a great solution except that sooooooo many people the cops come in contact with have guns already. The NRA has seen to it that the laws intended to support state and local militias back in colonial days have been twisted to support massive gun ownership in the US. Because, of course, the right to bear arms means that any local yokel should be allowed to have a semi-automatic weapon in his possession at all times.

My favorite jdubs were the ones who talked trash about other dubs eating a thanksgiving meal on Thursday (thus celebrating the "holiday"). The trash talkers then hypcritically did the same thing on Friday. Friday was not really celebrating, even if you had your family over to eat turkey, stuffing, cranberries, sweet and mashed potatoes, gravy, pumpkin pies, and all your other favorite holiday foods. THAT makes sense, right?

i've been on this site for a couple of weeks now posting here and there but have not had the opportunity to read about many of the regular members and what led up to their leaving the wt.. i understand that some of you (i'm part of this club) may not be able to disclose many details and i can appreciate that.. i'd love to hear what was it that finally made you renounce what is and hopefully soon to be "was" the wt.. i truly look forward to having good discussions.. thank you to all for your kind participation.. .

Lack of love for people but increased love for titles and power, hypocritical and pompous elders, shunning children, change from using Jesus as the example to excessive obedience and reverence for the elder body and watchtower...all topped off by child abuse cover ups. It all became too much to accept blindly.

It's a Happy Anniversary.

exactly a year ago today, i made my first post on jw net.. this then prompted me to disassociate from the jw cult and get my life back.. it's been a rollercoaster year but i can honestly say, after 12 months, i am in a much better place than i was a year ago.. it was the best thing i ever did.

no regrets.

life is hard but good too!!.
