there are a few things i picked up from watchtowerism that i still find value in.

(although, i could have easily picked them up elsewhere.).

one of these is the 30-day test to abstain from all booze.. .

I remember when the article came out. My (now ex-) husband who was the lush of the land, a secret daytime drinker, nighttime pornography viewer, and one who made it a point to have beer at dinner on the way to the hall while the rest of us always decined, decided he would stop for 30 days but didn't tell me about "the challenge". When his month was up, he pointed out to his elder buddies that I continued to have some beers of an evening and made it sound like I had NOT been able to stop like he did. What a jerk. So glad he's gone, better that he remarried and got (briefly - daddy an elder) disfellowshipped for adultery/not being "scripturally free". He's a shining example of jwdumb.

Not suggesting that anyone on this site would do this, but please be careful about using these types of admonishments as barometers of anyone else's behavior. Jdubs love to treat suggestions like this as rules, and that stuff can stay with ya.

there is a tribe in west african called the dogon, their mythology states that their gods came from a dark star that orbits around sirius.

they claim this star went nova then condensed so that its now super dense.

they have on their cave walls drawings of jupiter and its 4 moons and saturn with its rings.

Site issues: Jan 02 Update (Sign In)

i've deployed a fix for people affected by sign-in issues caused by having multiple accounts associated with the same email address.

here's how to activate the fix:.

you must attempt to sign in using the email address associated with your account (not a username) and must have access to that mailbox.. if there are multiple accounts associated with the email address then you will be shown a warning message with the option to have an email sent to repair your account.. the email will contain a link to a page showing all the accounts associated with the same email address and allow you to select the one you want to be active (it will disassociate all the other accounts from the email address).. once you have completed the process then you should be able to sign in as normal.

Mommy says no Christmas

daughter is 3 now, that's a little less than i've been on this forum.

enough to say that i have a generous amount of visitation with her.. i picked her up and was talking about the lights some of her neighbors had.

Inside, perhaps you read my post with some preconceived notions: The ideas and suggestions of cultBgone & rebel8 towards the topicstarter sounds pretty brainwashing too

My point was to ACKNOWLEDGE mommy's opinions rather than BELITTLE them...that daddy should NOT make fun of mommy but just acknowledge to his daughter that he understands what mommy has told her. (not yelling btw, just want to be sure you get the point)

My comment that mommy would eventually begin to look like a goofball is pure FACT. Children are not stupid and are quite capable of THINKING at the age of 3. Children do not need to be brainwashed to see the real truth around them, they are the ultimate truth seekers.

It's only people who HAVE been brainwashed that find it necessary to play mind games and attempt to warp their children's thinking.

I say it's the Watchtower bOrg who is doing the brainwashing here.

Tragedy and God's Will

it's utterly amazing to me how religious belief in an omnipotent deity shapes some people's thinking.. one woman whose family missed the air asia flight which crashed stated that it was god's will to give her father hepatitis so that she canceled her family's vacation trip on that flight.

she says she believes god saved her family and protected them.

however, she later mourns the fact that she lost friends on the flight...so does she believe god deliberately planned for them to die?

Site issues: Dec 30 Update

first of all, some apologies - i had planned to spend the last couple of days getting everyone signed in to the new site and sorting account issues out but i wasn't getting over the flu as i thought, i got worse.

i've probably had 4 hours sleep in the last few days.

anything that requires too much thinking isn't going to happen right now.
