i tried to search for a similar topic but couldnt find one.. anyway, i am an active jw or is it jehovah's witness?.
recently i noticed a trend, mainly found between teenagers and older techie brothers, of referring to themselves as jws.

I've always thought it was odd that the proclaimers book pointed out the "brave ones" picketing outside of churches with those "Religion is a Snare & a Racket" signs. We always believed we were IN a religion.
Sadly the jw org/wt is one of the biggest rackets there is.
Yep, I again use the word "lucky" without flinching...but what is the deal about "bulletin board"? Never knew about that. But I have to say it's funny that the jws where we used to live got upset about "pot luck" dinners...you know, where everyone just brings what they have and it's "pot luck"! I think we gave up and called them crockpot dinners or something...how stoopid.
How many stopped thinking they would be struck by lightning for saying a swear word?
i just got back from my afternoon walk/run and about a block from home i saw two sets of jw's going door to door handing out invites to the memorial.. the first pair walked past me and only said "good afternoon" as they passed.. about two minutes later the second pair approached me and handed me an invite to 2014 memorial on april 14. i asked them why they chose the jw's as their church of choice and was told "we'd like to chat more but we have a set number of invites we have to get out before the memorial.
if you contact the kingdom hall listed here, they will tell you more... on how god's kingdom will rid the world of satan and the evil associated with him.".
i replied "you can't talk now?".
For the past several years they've not only printed invites for the memorial but also for the district conventions...wonder if they'll do that for the one-day wonders? The jws I know love to do the invite work as it's "easy" time, which is why they won't stop and talk to anyone. They can count all the hours they're out "working the territory" and hunting down inactive ones...and last I knew, they were told to go back to each house 3 times. Talk about lazy witnessing.
im new here and im 17, going to turn 18 in 1 week.
i studied with my gradma the bible teach book and went to meeting with her and other relatives (considering most my relatives are jw except my parents) and i believe in all of it because i never read the bible for myself.
after reading the gospels i started noticing contradictions in the jw doctrine like when jesus said many would dine with the patriachs in the kingdom of heaven (yet only 144,000 jws can) which would seem odd considering the fact he adressed this to more then the apostles.

Lisa, you are making the little wheels in my mind start to spin...I used to buy and sell antique furniture and had such fun going to the auctions and sales. I'm hating life in an office knowing that I'll be stuck there for over half a decade but haven't yet figured out what I can do to get out. Monthly expenses prevent me walking away but I can cut my hours back a bit if I have to...to go to estate sales, perhaps. My alternative thought right now is to get a real estate license...everyone tells me I'd be good at it...sigh...what to do, what to do...

...from a school nurse clinical day in my nursing program and asked my wife "how was your day?".
she replies "good, i'm tired though because i was cleaning out the spare room and threw away a bunch of books.".
my ears perked up because she has a habit of trying to decide whether or not i 'need' what i have or should throw it away so i asked "which books?

once i left, i never yearned for anything associated with the religion.
i didn't miss their doctrines, their erroneous thinking.
i never felt guilty because i abandoned the religion i was raised in.. i believe the reason for my not feeling guilty is pretty simple.
I think of it as freedom to be human. So wonderful that every emotion and experience no longer has to be couched in jw-speak.
one thing i have learned over the years is there is a clear, distinct purpose to everything the wts does.
everything is done to accomplish a defined purpose.. did they really print millions of new bibles just to be more accurate?
after decades of toughting how much better the nwt was than any other bible?.
