  Any Suggestions on what to say if elders ask why you stopped going in FS?

  i was curious what might be some good things to say if i am questioned by the elduurs about my decline in fs.

  anything too honest may get me a jc (although that would be for the best in the end..) the co visit is this week so they may be getting more agressive than usual.

  stage #1.. what if in a town that had a particularly large amount of apostates and ex-jw's, over a period of a few months, they started going to a small congregation.

  either pretending they were bible studies or just returning jw's, they got good standing in the congregation, priveleges etc.

  What about this quicker method:

  Locate award-winning investigative reporters in 20 major cities and propose they check on jw-land and the wts the same as has been done with scientology and polygamist cult groups?

  Coverage reaches masses of people...the journalists are always on the hunt for an investigative series to win awards...papers love them because they sell.

  Surely the pedophilia, shunning and real e$tate angles would be enough of a carrot...

  A happy life for a gay ex-JW

  Outlaw, your initial post amazingly described my ex's personality 100%. Somehow it's helpful to see the description in print, it reinforces that I wasn't crazy even though he slandered me with every mean-spirited accusation possible. Control freak con-artist to the max, and he fit right in with the elders at the hall.

  He was born-in to parents who believed they shouldn't have children because the end was soooo close...his mom openly said that it was embarrassing back then to become pregnant because it meant you didn't follow the wts teachings. No wonder these little babies grow up crazified.

  Am extremely sorry I married him because of the damage to my kids, but blissfully I did get him away from us. Took a bit longer to get away from the borg, but so happy to be out of that as well.

  Many, many sisters suffered and were medicated for severe depression in the halls we attended, especially in rural areas where they had no place to turn and no place to hide. The ones I know are all still stuck. What a life...if you knew that all you had was a freakishly controlling elder hubby and the rest of your days on this beautiful earth were dismal...it's amazing that pills are all they take. I think a great many elders' wives probably know TTATT but don't have the strength or support to get out.

  Background Checks - Any Recommendations??

  i will be renting out some property and want to run background checks before lease signing.. at the application stage i always get permission to run credit and background checks but i rarely ran them.. does anyone have suggestion for a good and reasonably-priced site to run the checks?

  what experiences do you have with credit and background checks?

  are they thorough and accurate?.

  At one time we used CheckPast but it appears they have been acquired by ZeroChaos. Haven't checked their rates and such but they were very fast and thorough over the two years we did business with them. You might also contact other landlords (respond to their ads?) and ask for recommendations. Should be no reason not to assist you.

  discussions have arisen where a bro has firmly stated that "the society has never stated 1975" , and that "we" never said the system would be over in a specific time.. i know there was also the article re education in 1968 ish?.

  Avoid Going back to the JW's - Educate Yourself about Mind Control

  i've talked with some good friends on the board about this before and we seem to be in agreement : one reason ( among many ) that some disfellowshipped jw's go back and return to the wt organization is because they are full of uneeded guilt or uneeded fear because they haven't educated themselves about how the wt society uses mind control tactics to deceive them into thinking they have " nowhere else to go " .

  i understand that some dfed ones may go back to the organization for family and friends- however- it's an exrecise in futility because once you learn the truth about the truth you cannot undo what you heard.

  so some may just go back and live a fake jw life to appease family- but just think of how that can damage a person's emotional and mental health playing the fake jw game the rest of their lives !
