it's the gift that keeps on giving..
You have to know that sign language is always more direct than English as it's not a grammer-based language. All sign languages are object and action based. So yes, there are quite a few signs that appear rather graphic but it's not been invented by wts, it's American Sign Language and the jws are known to be excellent signers.
Also, whenever the wt lesson or talk outline mentions sexually explicit terms, the "brothers" have no choice but to sign them accurately. So little kids sitting in a sign language congregation get quite the education.
The worst? An eldub decided to show a bunch of newbies ALL the "naughty" signs while at a dining place. He said it was so they didn't accidentally sign one of them.
Uh huh.
i have been posting into the forum since 2001(my previous avatar was "justhuman" and when forum changed to net, i couldn't retrieve my old avatar so i had to use a similar one and log in again).
almost 15 years are gone.

live your life to the fullest and try to put the past behind you..
Well I think that will come in time for many. People have to go through the anger and grieving stages before the calm settles in.
a friend from the other end of the country just 'phoned and told me that a couple of days ago two elders knocked on his door.
he has been out for four or more years.. they told him it was c.o's visit, and the governing body have asked them to call on those whom they no longer see at the k.hall.. i guess this is an easier "field" than knocking on doors that never open, or where they are told "not interested".. my friend bill though, was not such an easy call.
apparently he managed to get in about 1914 being rubbish, the bible not being the word of god, because we cannot trust it, 1919 being rubbish as to the choosing of the fds and several other telling points.. i liked particularly that he said to them they were rather hypocritical asking householders to examine their faith, when jw's were simply not allowed to !.
Who really IS doing Satan's will today? (for those who believe in Satan)
interesting comment box from a 2012 wt mag...found this when looking for something else.
.
sure, "they realize that when a child becomes an adult, he or she will make a personal choice with regard to worship" but if their decision is to not be a jw, they are cut off from their family.. talk about deception, these guys are masterful... .
Echoing Never's request...does anyone have Morris' quote? Thanks!
i borrowed this mag as i hadn't looked at one in several years.
of course i had to review "are you moving ahead with jehovah's organization?".
paragraph 4 under heading "satanic action leads to armageddon" states:.
I borrowed this mag as I hadn't looked at one in several years. Of course I had to review "Are you moving ahead with Jehovah's organization?"
Paragraph 4 under heading "Satanic Action Leads to Armageddon" states:
How will God respond to satanic efforts to destroy his people? Jehovah will intervene in their behalf, exercising his right as Universal Sovereign. Jehovah considers an assault on his servants to be an attack on him (Read Zechariah 2:8.)
Yet he does not intervene when "his people" are being raped, abused, molested, beaten, cheated, slandered, or murdered.
Are these not considered satanic efforts? I've heard the old argument that this scripture only applies to the "group" of his people.
Thoughts on how to discuss with someone stuck inside?

Thanks for the warning....I have no desire to converse any further with them.
first post here: longtime lurker but hesitant to take the leap.
my story is pretty much like everyone elses with little variance, but i thought id add a few details that especially tormented me when i was in.
im sure these are familiar, im afraid this is a bit of a rant.. --paradise: the constant chatter about a perfect world when most in the hall were not even slightly interested in taking care of the earth now.
Welcome, BHBarbara! Great post and most everyone here has experienced that craziness. I thought the "service" arrangements got weirder and weirder the longer I stayed in.
Here's a not-unusual scenario based on fact: The only "return visit" for the group of four just happens to live on the extreme other side of the territory (oh wait we didn't call and of course they are not home) requiring a 45-minute (yes, indeed) drive followed by a 30-minute break rv because we left another tract with the regular waitress and then someone had to get back to the hall so there's another 45-minute drive (chip in that gas money, folks) and then, whoops, the only two people staying out happen to be of the opposite sex so they can't ride together...but now it's lunch time so they drive separate cars to lunch but leave a tract (time still rolling) and then both go visit an old couple suffering from dementia (carefully disguised as interested return visits, do you count one or two?) and then hey, let's call it a day wait, one of them texts their "study" who occasionally comes to the hall so there's another rv and then they finally split up and one drives 30 minutes home and pulls phone numbers from whitepages.com to do phone witnessing and that takes an hour.
Final "service" tally: 6 hours claimed, 5 return visits made, 4 tracts placed in bathrooms and on counters, 3 dollars in gas donations, 2 meals eaten, and 1 good pioneer day.
are elders required to report domestic violence to law enforcement?
what if children are involved?
i am wondering if the elders will report a situation to police or dcfs here in california.
Just took my lunch break to finally listen to your interview, KateWild...you did an amazing job pointing out that the actions of the wts in no way correlate to the teachings of Jesus.
Wishing you all the best in your attempts to free your son from his abusive dad.
