Some thoughts on the "library card" d...

with its "library card" defense, the wts tries very hard to minimize the significance of their relationship with the un.

according to the wts, this was actually a very trivial association, analogous to obtaining a library card - something very non-political, and something most of their members will relate to (as library card holders) and view as quite innocuous.

most jws will have no difficulty dismissing this completely out of hand.. also, without actually lying about it, the wts implies that the "criteria for association" changed.

I think the smoking gun is exactly as you point out here!!!

A few of the people here had stated that they always wondered about the articles in the Awake! painting the UN in a good light..

If there are any active JW's out there that had similiar questions, if they find out about this UN association, and the need to 'publish UN stuff' to keep the association, then they may really start to question the "library card" issue...

Excellent idea, we should certainly follow up on this one!!!!

If you can, scan all the articles.. I'd love to see them!!!

If that is the case, and there is NO justification for being involved with the UN, why doesn't the WT come clean with it's R&F..

If they don't, aren't they propigating a lie to the R&F, and in that case, just as guilty as the brothers that associated in the first place???

After all, if what you say is true, and there is no defense for them associating in the first place, and the WTBTS doesn't come clean, aren't they practicing a sort of "Theocratic Warfare Strategy" on their very own followers?

MAJOR UN/WTS NEWS- UN LETTER & 1992 Press R...

as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.

and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .

after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

Have you read the bible lately? Did you read what it says about false prophets? What would you do if I showed you from your own literature that the WT has claimed to be a prophet on many occasions? Can you show me just ONE of their prophecies that has come true? No? Then why don't you follow the bible like it says, and "don't be afraid of the false prophet?"

Help!! How can you make a witness tell the truth?

i'm talking the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about their organization---up front, not subtly creeping it in.

two of them caught me by surprise this morning at my door (nobody here knows me from adam) offering the awake magazine on battered women.

i was incredulous, having had experience with being a battered woman and a witness all at the same time.

I agree whole heartidly with you..!!!!

That is what I want to see being brought to the forefront..

In the courtrooms would be excellent, but I think if the media does it correctly, it will protect the majority of non-witnesses from ever getting caught up in this 'cult' in the first place!!!!

I still maintain that no matter how much 'evidence' we unearth against the WTBTS, witnesses that don't want to see it will be able to ignore or rationalize it away.. Witnesses that are truly looking for truth will use it as a way to break the bondage of slavery..

But, in both cases, the average joe on the street that doesn't know anything about witnesses is still in danger of their 'dreaded bible studies'..

I think getting the word out about their 'lying tactics' would be just as big or even bigger to average people than the clild molestation case.. Hate to say it, but average people have heard about the catholic church and their problems with Child Molestation.. So, average people may even be able to 'rationalize' that one away, as saying ok, they are like all other churces, and they have their problems too... And even if the average person cannot rationalize it away, you can bet that the WT will have a canned line or two to rationalize it away, and mention the catholic church's problems with similiar situations as well.. There is a correlary there, and an average person may be able to get sucked in simply because something that 'sounds' similiar has happened in another church..

But, there is NO correlary to a church (although it certainly is a correlary to destructive cults) to actually promote lying and deception to people on the outside... When a person hears this, they will automatically think CULT -- DANGER...

The WT can spin away the child molestation cases, so long as people don't do real research.. But, I don't think they will ever be able to spin away 'lying and deception' doctrines.. Even if people don't do research on that one, all they will ever have to do is hear it mentioned that the WT practices lies and deception to recruit new members, and that will stick with all people.. And they will be forever on gaurd when a knock comes at the door..

So, I cannot agree more with you.. The VERY IMPORTANT issue is getting the "Theocratic Warfare Strategy" out to the masses.. It takes away the MAJOR tool they use to begin their indoctrination procedure against new members, and also will frustrate everything they do from here on end, as everything they say will be looked at with the fine toothed comb that it should be to interpret the often double-meanings that they use...
